It is not that often that you get the chance to see a purpose built truck, let alone a truck that could give any high performance car a run for its money. However, here we are and in front of us is the ready to race Toyota Tacoma X Runner and it has been on show at the 2010 SEMA Show as a feature to show just how good Toyotas engineers are.
So what has this truck got to offer? We know that trucks have a decent amount of pulling power, but this version has around 504 HP using standard fuel, its Tundra 5.7 litre V8 engine slipped nicely under that huge hood without any modifications, this is helped by the Toyota Racing Development (TRD) Supercharger Kit and six speed automatic gear box.
This is an amazing piece of engineering worked on scale that this sort of vehicle was not designed for. but then again that is what modified cars are all about bringing out something from the car that would not normally be seen or expected, that is definitely true with this vehicle and it is probably the last thing that you would expect to see burning rubber down at the track.
Toyota’s Tacoma X Runner is a strange sort of beast, of course, you do see modified trucks around, but these are the work of import builders, this truck is a works vehicle and uses a lot of stock equipment and this must be a credit to Toyota. it just goes to show what can happen when engineers are let loose in the factory.
