It is the work of Kathryn Tanaka and it has to be said that with this third build she has really come up with a winner. This is a drifting car and as result of some intense driving the car apparently needed some touch ups here and there, so why not go all the way and create a new car instead, that is what has been done here for third time.

However, it has not been all cosmetic, for a modification means, just that and some serious changes have taken place under the hood. For instance, the S13 SR20DET Red Top has been upgraded with a Megan Racing stainless steel exhaust and a GReddy M spec front mounted intercooler has been fitted behind the impressive type X front bumper.

Never the less it is still hard to believe that this is a car that is twenty years old, one of the original series one S13’s sporting the 2.4 litre engine offering around 140 HP with a choice of a four speed auto or a five speed manual gearbox. we can only guess at what this car is producing in the power department, but we can be sure that it is a lot more than the standard road model!

This the Stream Z GT it’s the brainchild of magazine owner and drift fan Daijiro Inada, he used to be content with a nice standard S15 Silvia, but that was okay, but he had in mind something else, something so different that it will daze and confuse everyone that lays their eyes on this wonderful machine.

The brilliant Nissan 240 SX S14was unveiled in 1994 and first on sale the following year, it was a different direction from the S13 model as that convertible and hatch back versions were phased out during the design stages. This means the Nissan has one car, one body style and one really cool car ideal for import builders to get their hands on.

The S14 was all about refinements and not in the way that would make the car into a luxury sedan, these refinements were to make the care sleeker, lighter and much faster. The Nissan 240 SX S13 originally came with different body styles the two door coupe, three door coupe and the two door convertible. But unlike many other cars of the same style, the revised model sold between 1991 and 1994 only cam with one engine choice the 2.4 litre SOHC, later DOHC knocking out about 115 HP.

Of course, the engine had to go and has been replaced with a GT3971 top mount turbo; this is well capable to producing around 434 HP on fuel alone. The engine is where most of the actions appears to have taken place, although painting the body in that bright orange is a signal to all other builders that this car is the business.

The Nissan 240SX is the sort of baby brother of the more famous and very powerful Nissan Skyline GT-R, yet both of these cars have a pedigree that runs as long as many of the other performance cars around, in some cases the Nissan history is longer and in some cases more interesting than some other brands.

But this is about this fantastic looking Nissan 240SX originally built during 1996 and even though the car has gone through being stripped down and almost completely rebuilt from scratch to look almost identical to what it would have looked like as it rolled off the production line and into the arms of its first owner.

Of course, this is car that has got a pedigree of its own or rather the builders have, Louie Lui and Tony Wei, the two most luckiest guys in the import building world. They work with these cars all of the time and get to work on a project such as this on the side if you can call it that. One thing is for sure the some guys get all of the luck all of the time!

I love the drifting image with the hood missing it has a sort of arty feel to it that means that it has either been removed or the driver lost it somewhere around the track, hopefully for the team that hood was still there otherwise it’s another couple hundred bucks to fork out for.

This is car with a touch beauty and beast syndrome, with looks that are too pleasant when to car is sitting there doing nothing, but once the pedal it to the metal this Nissan becomes beauty on wheels and as such is a dream car for many people interested in import building.

Because this car is finished in a sort of matt silver, it almost looks like the bodyworks has been taken right down to the bare metal and then just had a coat or two of lacquer applied just keep the edge on the body.

It is a little unfortunate that there are no stats with this car as it would be interesting to find out how fast it is over the quarter mile, or even a couple of laps of the local circuit. You don’t see many of these around, the great Nissan 240 SX was one of the cars to have during the early nineties, but things seemed to get too much for it as other auto makers began to bring hot hatches and modified family cars, these proved to be a serious competition for the Nissan and it faded away.

However, import builders have seen that this is car that can be made into something fantastic and this nice red 1993 Nissan 240 SX owned by Ken Moore shows us exactly what can be done with such a great base to start off from. The classic shape is still there, you can see that for yourself, but this car has undergone some serious building on the inside and just a little touch here and there on the outside.

You will notice that there is no ICE or sponsors come to think about it, but that just goes to show exactly what this car is about, it has been built with energy and the desire to produce a car that that demonstrates skill and patience. Ordinarily the colour would not be top of the list for build, either as it is just too orange, but the longer that you at the car the better the body work looks. This is an orange machine that people like, if this colour was on a Neon or something similar the driver would be laughed at.

Four Lug bolt pattern wheel hubs are usually for front wheel drive vehicles, therefore, many high end wheel companies only make stagger offset wheels in 5 lug bolt patterns. For 89-94 Nissan 240SX owners, in order to fit some of the wheels they have to buy special adapter-type spacers or locate some JDM conversion parts in order to change their bolt pattern to the 5 lug spec. Using spacer adapters will take away fender clearance so people will be forced to use smaller wheels than they desired. Used JDM parts that could cost a whole lot more and the condition of the parts might not be ideal. TC Sportline has developed a five lug hub assembly conversion kit that will allow S13 owners to convert their entire hub assembly from four lug to 5-lug bolt pattern. The conversion process is made much easier with the TCS hub kit and no major modifications are needed. The front hub assemblies also included high grade bearings for easy installation. The stock brake callipers can be retained after the conversion and because it is not the cheap spacer type conversion kit, S13 owners could use the biggest and widest wheels possible. It is also a safer option when building race/drift cars. This will enable 240SX owners to fit more variety of wheels in the desired offsets onto their vehicles. After the conversion, stock brake callipers can be retained or they could upgrade to a bigger brake kit. The kit comes with all four hub assemblies for the front and rear axles. Specially designed hubs will also allow you to switch back to the 4-lug pattern by simply remove and reconfigure the wheel studs.

Modelled on a WWII B 17 by the owner Todd Griesch, this car has the colour right and even along the bodywork it has artwork that resembles the bodywork on the plane itself, with panels and rivets all airbrushed in with superior skill and accuracy.

What makes this car special is that when the owner bought it, is was a little worse for wear and in many cases might have even been scrapped. The job is started with the old paintwork being stripped right back and then by using the Sherwin Williams ultra system PE990 etch primer, P30A spectra prime, S56 ultra-fill II sealer, ultra 7000 base coat, and ultra 7000 CC950 ultra-flex clear the job is underway.

Not only that, upon closer inspection it will be noticed that meticulous attention to detail has been made, virtually every screw, bolt and nut has been removed and plated in gold, along with most of the main engine parts.

Something like this does not just happen, this is a work of art that takes a lot of hard work, time and of course that old tradition with any project, plenty of cash!

Naturally there have been some additions in the engine department, but the engine itself has mainly remained as it came, which is testament to the carmakers own parts. Sure, there have been some changes like the GReddy intake manifold and Blitz Nur Spec three inch diameter exhaust.

The car sits on a set of works VS-XX wheels that are covered in Nitro NT555 tyres, all seventeen inches of them!

This car although to the fan would look great, but for the perfectionist like Jason clearly is, it is by nowhere near completed and despite having spent around $100,000 on the near perfect Silvia, there is always something that could do with the master touch and if Jason is to blitz the shows then the work is never finished.
