The word turbo fills some people with fear and others with anticipation, but in reality, a turbo is just another car part that just happens to fitted to the engine. It can improve performance and fuel efficiency, yet the word turbo can strike fear in many people because of the cost and simple fact that it seems that only the experts actually know anything about this strange looking round metal object. However, it does not have to be like this at all, turbos were first used in aircraft engines as a way of reducing the power losses achieved at high speeds and the reduced air pressure at altitude. But soon the turbo was finding its way under the hood of production cars as way of increasing power and improving fuel economy, with GM adding a turbo to the Oldsmobile Cutlass Jetfire in 1962. However, the most famous early adopter would be Porsche with the 911 Turbo. Basically the turbo is a centrifuge powered by the engines own exhaust gases, it will create high pressure at the time of each engine stroke, this forces a higher mass mixture into the cylinders and therefore improving performance at every stroke of the engine. … Continue reading →

Nevertheless, this would not work without a wastegate, this simple prevents the pressure from getting too high by venting any excess gases that have built up inside the turbo, and too much pressure can mean critical engine damage!

Choosing a new turbo is fairly easy these days, basically the car owner needs to decide whether to go for power or cost, in general terms it is always seemed better to go for a slightly smaller turbo as this is going to be easier and indeed more fun drive, but you lose power from the top end. It seems that a smaller turbo would be better for road cars, while performance and track cars go for the biggest turbo possible to get the maximum out of their engine.

Points to consider when looking at buying a new Turbo for your car;

POWER:

• Think in horsepower not boost.

• Boost is just a number that you will have to run on your engine to make a certain horsepower.

• How much power do you want to make? Be realistic, the more accurate that you are, the better tuned your forced induction system will be.

• Can your vehicle (not just the engine, but the entire setup) handle such power?

• Remember the turbocharger is generally not the weakest link.

•Forged pistons, connecting rods, head studs, etc.

• “As much as possible” is not a goal.

INTENDED USAGE:

• What are you using the vehicle for?

• Race or street use?

• The way that you will be using the vehicle dramatically changes the sizing of the turbocharger and intercooler needs.

• Your choice of transmission type and gearing will greatly affect the performance and characteristics of the turbocharger, keep this in mind.

PACKAGING:

• Will the turbocharger(s) fit in your vehicles space constraints? Consider using differently sized compressor housings to more easily fit a given location.

Speed and power are the goals of most performance tuners when working on their project cars. Many have turned to turbo kits, since turbo charging a car is the most cost effective way to dramatically increase the horsepower and torque of any engine. The turbo system works by utilizing the exhaust gases to spin a turbine, in which the compressor wheel sucks in and forces atmospheric air into the air intake of the engine. More air into the engine means more fuel will be needed. More air and more fuel equal more power. T70 turbo, intercooler piping kit, silicone couplers, t-bolt clamps, intercooler, wastegate, blow off valve, blow off valve adapter plate, oil return line kit, oil feed line kit, fuel pressure regulator, oil catch tank, boost controller, turbo timer, radiator fan, radiator fan mount kit, manifold flanges, and all gaskets and hardware.

As the gas flows through the chamber, it spins the turbine wheel and then the gases continue out through the exhaust. That is how the turbo operates so how does it produce power? The faster the engine revs the more gas is produced and like a hair dryer the volume increases until the point where it becomes compressed and this is the boost. Before this can be used the air has to be cooled, that’s where the intercooler comes in, the cooler the better. The air is forced into the combustion chamber and this action is what increases power. Selecting a turbo for your project: Calculate the airflow for the engine in its naturally aspirated form Use the following formula for standard atmospheric pressure: CFM=(CID x RPM x … Continue reading →

Selecting a turbo for your project:

Calculate the airflow for the engine in its naturally aspirated form

Use the following formula for standard atmospheric pressure: CFM=(CID x RPM x 0.5 x Ev) / 1728. (CID: cubic inch displacement; EV: volumetric efficiency (0.80-0.90); CFM: air flow rate)

Knowing your desired boost level, calculate the airflow rate under boost by multiplying the pressure ratio by airflow rate (na – cfm)

Calculate the pressure ratio: (14.7+Boost/14.7) – then calculate the air flow rate under boost by multiplying the pressure ratio by your air flow rate from step one: CFM x pressure ratio (for twin turbo applications divide this number by 2).

To covert CFM to lbs/min, use (CFM x 0.076 = lbs/min).

Use compressor maps to find the turbo best suited to the air flow rate and pressure ratios you have attained

You can get calculate a rough estimate on Engine horsepower using the following formulas: Lower value: 0.052 x CID x (psi boost + 14.7) = bhp Higher value: 0.077 x CID x (psi boost + 14.7) = bhp

The GT-K family has been designed for maximum performance utilizing the most advanced turbocharger engineering & components. This next generation of turbo units features special Map Enhancement Porting to allow the compressor wheel to operate at its maximum efficiency across a very broad rpm range. This variant of bleed air design, has precisely placed slots machined into the compressor housing to limit effects of surge when using large turbochargers on small displacement engines as well as providing additional air flow to make maximum horsepower at high boost pressure levels & across the entire rpm range. Equipped with the latest HP Compressor Wheels, designed to maximize efficiency at high boost pressures, & the F1 Turbine wheel, created to capture maximum exhaust gas energy & reduce back pressures, the GT-K family of turbos delivers unequalled performance. Turbonetics HP Compressor Wheels are made of 354 heat treated aerospace aluminium & are manufactured utilizing Hot Isostatic Processing (HIP) to allow these wheels to be incredibly strong. When paired with the Map Enhancement Porting of the GT-K compressor housings, these wheels flow huge volumes of air at high pressure ratios while still delivering a cool efficient intake charge. The F1 Turbines are a new generation of 10 bladed, tall tip height wheels that allow you to turn up the boost without encountering dreadful backpressure issues. Select turbo systems will also be able to be upgraded to the GT-K Turbos if so desired. Turbine housings will feature high temperature ceramic coating to trap exhaust gas energy inside the turbine housing for greater energy delivery & faster response time, as well as keeping the engine compartment temperatures low. Cooler under hood temps means more power potential from a cooler compressor intake charge.

The 350Z is one of the best cars to come out of Japan, well that is what I think anyhow. These cars probably don’t actually need much doing to them to make them hot. However, of what that means is that these cars end up being something seriously cool and a dream to drive. This car has been named the Juice Z and the design certainly squeezes the appetite for more. Like the doors, you would not expect to have just any old door on this car would you?
Product Description

“Rvinyl Dash Kits are manufactured from a professional grade, 6-year rated automotive vinyl film. Rvinyl uses a 3 mil thick, vinyl that is available in a wide variety of high gloss colours and finishes to complement your vehicles interior. It is coated with a semi-permanent pressure sensitive adhesive, which allows for its application on your vehicles dash, but still allows you to remove the dash kit without damaging your cars interior. The Vinyl film is pre-cut to the specifications of your vehicles make, model and year (as listed and illustrated in the product diagram). It is designed to accent your vehicles dash. The dash kit solely accents the interior; it is not designed to fully cover the cars trim panelling. What are the vinyl dash trim kits physical properties? Thickness of film plus adhesive: .0042″” (0.010668cm) Application temperature: 50°F to 104°F (10°C – 40°C) Rvinyl recommends an application temperature of 70-80°F (21° -26°) End Use temperature after application: -5°F to 194°F (-20°C – 90°C)”

However, in the right hands this high gloss finish is a testament to the work and time that has gone into this car.

Burnout series exhaust systems consist of many cat back and axle back systems for various imports and domestic sports compact vehicles. Designed to be O.E. replacements, each system bolts onto the original mounting locations with uniquely designed hangers that prevent slippage. With 2.5″ cat back piping, it allows for increased exhaust flow throughout the RPM range without losing too much back pressure at lower RPM. Sporty Zen style muffler features compact canister with 4.0″ muffler tip. Special sound dampening materials inside the muffler canister facilitate deep and low throaty exhaust tone and increase low end torque for street use. Made of 100% grade A stainless steel material, the burnout exhaust systems are not only attractive in appearance but they also have high durability.

This fusion of aggressive styling and practical construction makes this the logical choice for both Race and Street Enthusiasts. The systems are comprised of a Titanium heat-treated tip, polished stainless steel muffler, unpolished stainless steel piping. It improves high and mid-range performance while still allowing for suitable sound levels when used with the included tuned Tri-mounted Silencer*. *Most applications below 92db, with all under 94db. The large list of applications include 80mm piping for Turbo applications and 50-60-70mm for Normally Aspirated vehicles. (usually 60mm)

To compliment the GReddy Turbo Kit line, we also offer the Turbo Ti-C line. Turbo Ti-C cat-back exhaust systems feature larger piping diameters for more flow then the standard normally aspirated Racing Ti-C applications. (usually 70 or 80mm)

This Rvinyl Headlight Protection Film kits are designed to protect your vehicle”s headlamps from road debris, weather elements, salt and UV discoloration. Headlamp Protection Film kits are pre-cut and model specific and made from a pliable urethane adhesive backed film. Rvinyl kits apply as easily as a decal, but are repositionable during the application process using a wet application method and conform to your vehicle”s lights by using a heat source. If you have a hair dryer, you can install this product. Years of outdoor exposure degrade OEM lights, turn signals and fog lights. Scratches and UV radiation turn headlights yellow and milky-white over time, leading up to a 50% degradation in foot light candle output. Rvinyl headlight protection films prevents this and are non-protective tint film however does not provide a level of protection from significant scratches or UV radiation. 1 in 6 vehicles on the road will require headlight replacements. OEM composite lights cost in excess of $600.00 to replace. Rvinyl Protection kits may be removed with out damaging existing lights, increasing resale value and protecting leased vehicles. Rvinyl offers two types of clear protection film, a lite version designed to be installed by the average user and a professional version, which is five times thicker, and designed for professional installers. Both protect your headlights, but the processional version is specifically engineered for off-road use vehicles and race tracks.

Secret Weapon Intake (Nissan | 240SX | 91-94)

Product Description

The air filter can be totally taken apart and cleaned. The foam is denser and more thicker than the Dragon filter.

The velocity stank inside the air filter is a TRUE VELOCITY STACK. The Air filter has Ram Air capability, by hooking up the hose to the top of the air filter.

The intake has another Air Passage way inside the intake pipe to create a Air Fusion, imagine 2 different pathways of air inside the intake pipe, one air traveling in pathway #1 going 2 x faster than pathway #2. When the two different pathways of airflow meet at the end of the pipe they create a fusion effect which enhances the AIR SPEED of the by 3 times.

The Secret Weapon Intake Systems is an result of countless hours of testing and tuning of air intake velocity, Airmass and Airspeed for each vehicle application. The Result, an intake system that performs better than any Cold Air Intake, but with a Short Ram. It is possible by Weapon*R’s Patent Pending Speed Velocity theory, By creating a higher airspeed in the intake path you increase airmass and airspeed, which greatly increase horsepower.

This is possible by Creating two different paths of airflow, both flowing at different airspeeds, due to the tubing diameter in which the air is traveling. Now when the two different paths of air meet, they create a vacuum, which is where the airspeed starts to multiply, forcing more air into the engine at a higher rate, creating more horsepower.

The Secret Weapon Intake Systems are carefully CNC mendrel bent out of 6061 Aluminium, and then Hand Tig Welded in sections to ensure a constant balance in airflow, regulation in airspeed, positive seal and proper fittment. Each one of these intake systems are carefully tuned, by matching the engines displacement, air intake capacity and airspeed to the intake systems tube size, length and secondary pathway tubing diameters to maximize the full potential of the SECRET WEAPON INTAKE SYSTEM.

A collaboration is always going to produce something spectacular and this Scion XD is definitely some sort of super car that looks as if it has been factory made, but of course, we all know what a Scion XD looks like before the work has been done. This car has been built by Team Koshak and All Star, this was originally designed for the SEMA 2008 show, the most prominent thing about the car is the roof, or rather the lack of one. This is something really makes a car stand from the rest and the way that this has been done is for impact, which they have achieved. The colour green features heavily on this car and even as you inside there is a splash of Samari Green greets you in the centre console. This colour is themed all around the car with touches of carefully placed paint to highlight the colour throughout the entire project. SPECS Exterior: Chopped top – made the car into a speedster / convertible: Chopped off the roof, a-b-c pillar from around the doors, rear deck lid and wing, Re-enforced the body with a custom 6pt Unique Fabrication roll cage All … Continue reading →

Product Description

“Rvinyl window tint kits are made from high quality tint film manufactured by Llumar. Our film when properly installed will not fade, lose colour, turn purple, or bubble. Precut tints are a cost effective way for the do-it-yourself installer to save time and money by taking the guess work out of the window tint installation process. Rvinyl car window tint kits are precut specifically for the make, model and year listed in the product name using advanced software and the most updated window tint pattern databases in the industry. We use professional grade equipment in the manufacturing of your film kit, allowing for a precision and professional results in half the time it would take you to install film by the roll. Although installing precut kits is significantly easier and less time consuming than installing film by the roll, it can still be a difficult process. Although many sites claim their kits are easy to install, we recommend you review the installation procedures outlined to make sure our product meets your needs. Installation difficulty depends on the ability of the installer, the particular windows being tinted and the compound surface of the rear windshield as it will require heat shrinking for proper installation. Front and rear windows are generally relatively easy to tint as they rarely require heat shrinking.”

A Nissan Sentra from 2002, is not the sort of car that you expect to find at a show or race day, but when it has been worked on to the extent that this one has, then it definitely deserves to right up there with all of the other winners and some seriously deserving runner ups too. This is one hell of a beautiful looking machine that hardly resembles the car that it used to be, it has had so much work done on it that apart from the body shell there is probably nothing on there that is original. Yet this is a car of extremes, from what started off as an average car has finished up looking like something the mind of a mechanical genius. What is amazing is the interior, this is like nothing that any production car is going have, in fact the interior of this car is like something out of this world, with black, red and silver taking over the inside of this machine. It is so fantastic inside that would not want to drive it for the fear of getting finger prints on some of those surfaces. Engine Modification – … Continue reading →
