The bodywork is great; in fact, it looks as if there has only been minimal amounts of work done on this car, such as a roof wing, side skirts and front bumper. One nice touch is the wing mirror covers, these have carbon fibre covers, but even better than that is the roof section, that has been made by hand from carbon fibre too.

Yet this is the sort of car that you would expect to find just down at the track, which is true of course, this car can often be seen ripping the track up drag meetings and time attacks. However, there is somewhere else where this 350Z can found and that is on the road, yes the owner Frank Trapani can often be seen taking this silver/grey machine on the street.

The car is not quite finished currently it tops out at around 670 HP, which is good. But could there be just a little but more in there to play, the team think so and they will be looking at a 25 psi re-tune and a few other little tweaks  will push this car right up to 750 HP now that is what you call power.

Sometimes you see a car that simply takes your breath away and this Scion XA is one of those cars. When it comes to building and imported car it is easier to take a sports saloon or coupe and make it better, but the Scion is a different thing all together, this is not the sort of car that you would associate with creating a something special.

But that is what all of this is about, taking something that is ordinary and making it extra ordinary by rebuilding it into what we see here.

Even the colour choice of the Scion is special and suits this car, whereas on another model it may not look as good, in fact the colour scheme would not go as nicely on sleek looking machine. The point is that building a car takes much more than workshop skills, it takes vision and it is clear that there is a lot of vision that has gone into making this car a special car.

The Honda Civic R is a cool enough car in any case, but when it has had the builders treatment you can just imagine how hot it is going to be and what sort of competition it is going to give the other crews around the circuits.

After all until the lights go out nobody really knows how these cars are going to perform, the owners and driver may have an idea, but it is the fastest on the track that wins.

The Honda has been finished in white too, which also adds to the mystery and sort of gives the car a look of unfinished innocence, maybe enough for the competition to eliminate it as a treat, only to be surprised at the end.

Yet that is nothing, the best thing about this car is not the speed or the build, what I like about this is that a few years ago the car was a $600, one hundred horse power machine, with probably with not more life in it. Now its perfect example of what an import builder can do. This Mitsubishi Mirage is currently worth around $60,000! Now that is what you call a bruiser.

One thing about Mitsubishi Lancer Evolutions is that when they have been built up, it seems the exhaust has been run through the speaker system. Why do they always have to be so noisy? First up his original car had been stolen, once that has happened there is little left to do but cry for a while and start all over again on new project. Within two months of theft Katman picked up the mark two, and started will all of the usual work, seats, steering wheel and the most of the other accessories where changed to JDM stuff.

This was not going to be a sole car for showing this was a real car doing everyday car stuff, driving around having the odd bit fun and maybe and accident or two, well in fact it was one with a 240SX, so while the repairs were being done Katman decided on some major work, like an engine replacement.

The car was completed in 2005, and as we said before this is everyday car, it does occasionally turn up at meets where fans are pleased to see one of the best Honda Civics around.

Well that was what Terry Kalosky an experience import builder thought, but after a few minutes behind the wheel there was an understanding that this car could not be just built into just another import car, this had potential and so he set about the task.

First up is the bodywork, this involved getting hold of all parts that could possibly be bolted on to a car, full coil cover, turbo back exhaust, FMIC and the all important intake, not to mention that all important nitrous oxide equipment.

Sure there was a huge amount of changes made to this car, but eventually it had to be right and to make sure that this car is worthy of the respect it deserves it won the NOPI Nationals, visited SEMA in Las Vegas and had a goof showing at the Hot Import Nights Chicago, cool!

This particular model was purchased by Quoc Pham and his father for just $1,500 back in 2003, but as you can imagine the car was a different machine then to what we are looking at in this image. But this is an example of how a not too expensive purchase be turned into something fantastic that people like us simply cannot get enough of.

Now dressed in yellow with a change of transmission to the super five speed version and a change of engine to the L24 complete with the set of triple carbs, the motor has already gained around fifty extra horse power, but this was short lived and the total rebuild that we see now had to be done.

What is great about this job, is that it is a real family effort with Quoc’s mum getting involved with the engine bay paint job, how cool is that.

The GT-R through personal choice has to one of the best Japanese cars to hit the road, it has pedigree, but more than that it has 1000 bhp performance and style in huge quantities. Anyone who sits behind the wheel of this wonderful machine will think that that they have gone to petrol head heaven.

This book is there for the huge following that this car a history has, there is no other car around that demonstrate sophistication shaped in metal and power with ice cold fuel.
