So that is what has happened here, this is your average Honda Civic from 1993, it is the four door family style version, which has been driven by all sorts if careful drivers around the world. However, this particular model happens to be different, it is owned by Ahmed Yousry and he has completely changed the way that this car should be seen as.

No longer is the basic Honda Civic a family run around, this is a car that can be bought fairly cheaply and with some serious time and cash investment, a car such as this can be produced. We have no actual figures as to how this car performs, but we have to assume that with the power available to the driver it is not going to have any problems getting away from the lights.

This version is the three door model; it has a larger door than the five door model, so this allows the seats to be pushed back as far as possible. The main focus of this build has been on the bodywork, the sharper more visible edges have been rounded off and smoothed out to produce a more aerodynamic shape, in fact the shape of this car is more to do with looks than aerodynamics. Although both features are smooth on the eye, which is one of the points of building in the first place.

One thing that this build shows is the how simple design works as opposed to the designs that go over the top with features that have no mechanical functions but instead have been included because they have the effect of looking good on a car.

The Honda Civic SI was built in either Brazil or Canada; it came with a choice of two versions the standard 2.0 litre engine with a six speed gearbox and producing 189 HP or 197 HP. This modified Honda has a small amount of work done on the engine and can produce around 209 HP.

As with all import builder jobs, this one has been completed to the demands of the owner and in this case the focus has been placed onto the body rather than the interior, which remains more or less as it was and even the mechanics of the car are almost untouched.

The work that has gone into this design is extraordinary, it could even be classed as a work of art, and after all, like a masterpiece it is clear what the car is. Yet this is a vision of what the builder thinks a Honda Civic should look like if it were left down to the designers and not the bean counting accountants.

Performance wise this car is unlikely to win any prizes, but as a stand alone project to produce one of the Honda Civics around at the current time, this one has to be in with a great chance of being up there at the top, unless there are any better looking Honda Civics around at the moment, any ideas?

With some import builds the work is not always that obvious, but this car is not ashamed to show off that is a car with breeding and comes with plenty of upgrades to back its new look up with. The red wheels really do give the car a nice edge.

When these cars were first made, they would been fitted with the standard Acura 1.6 EL litre engine, which has been a great workhorse for Honda, but in a high performance road machine, that is just not going to cut it with the serious import builder.

One thing that is apparent with this car is the JDM influence, in fact, JDM can be spotted in most sections of the car, including the handy gear shift, which is in black although that does not mean much at all, of course. At the end of the day is this one of the best Honda Civics in the US or the World, it has to up there doesn’t it!

But the this is Honda Civic and for all their faults these cars make great projects and as we have seen before the Honda Civic can display all of the qualities required by an import builder to come up with a superior looking machine that may look slightly tame on the road or in this case in an image. but once on that track this car really moves it, big time!

It is one of those cars that initially would have been driven by the older driver or possibly a lady. but it was not that long before it was realised that the Honda Civic could be modified into something spectacular, it must be something to do with the shape and the way that the car has been built one thing is for sure the car attracts a different person now.

On the outside there is little that can be altered without spoiling the whole shape and lines of the car, there is not even a huge spoiler attached to the boot lid. The only thing about that is clearly visible about on the outside is the wheels on the lowered suspension. For small car 172 HP is plenty of power in fact this is enough to see virtually any car off from the traffic lights.

It seems that after the women and older drivers, these poor old civics feel into the hands of first time drivers that modified them slightly, which usually means a large sound system and some furry dice. Naturally this spelled the end of this model and now there are only few left, one of which is owned by Anthony Keever from Greensboro, NC.

He has taken this poor old car and with time and patience has put new life into it, from the outside it still has the same old same and styling with a few slight medications. Even the interior is almost the same as it was when granddad was driving it around.

However under the hood it is a different story, a lot of work has gone into the build. In fact the engine has almost been rebuilt to beyond its original state, did the original version look like this one does with Kevlar wire covers and superior body parts that cost an arm and a leg?

For the owner Andre Bourne he was lucky enough to but this car as a virtual shell and therefore it must have been like giving an artist a blank canvas to with as he pleased. Of course that means it could have all gone terribly wrong, but as you can see from the images it turned out just fine.

The air filter can be totally taken apart and cleaned. The foam is denser and more thicker than the Dragon filter.

By now you know that this is a UK car and I thought it that it would be interesting to see how people do it in the UK. It looks as if this is car that could well compete with the comparable cars in the US, maybe it’s time for modified international to start.

As you can see from the images, the Civic has undergone extensive work with particular attention being made to sound system, clearing the owner does not put any trust in the standard works music player! So what makes the humble Honda Civic so interesting to import car builders? That is question that has been puzzling people for years because the road cars were only ever driven by older people and only because they were cheap and reliable.

However, it seems that import builders will go crazy over these cars; sure, they are neat and compact. Although there is one thing that does happen to shine through and it is all to do with cash. This car is a 1994 version of the four door Honda Civic and after spending a couple years and $10,000 the car in the images is the result.

You do not seem to get many of these Hondas being built up to this standard, usually you would be expecting to see a Nissan, Toyota or Lexus that seem to cost the earth and then has some serious cash spent on top of the cost just to make life even more difficult for the ordinary man in the street.

Apart from that, this is a car ripe for modification. It has the body and style that lends itself to being just slightly altered with nip and tuck here and there. If this Honda Civic were parked in the next door neighbours drive, the peace would certainly be shattered every time the car was started.

But one way to beat off the ridicule of owner the Honda Civic is to have not only the best one of its kind around, but to have a car like the Civic but what can run rings around all the other cars that or in your import builder circle, then the Honda Civic is no laughing matter.

First up his original car had been stolen, once that has happened there is little left to do but cry for a while and start all over again on new project. Within two months of theft Katman picked up the mark two, and started will all of the usual work, seats, steering wheel and the most of the other accessories where changed to JDM stuff.

This was not going to be a sole car for showing this was a real car doing everyday car stuff, driving around having the odd bit fun and maybe and accident or two, well in fact it was one with a 240SX, so while the repairs were being done Katman decided on some major work, like an engine replacement.

The car was completed in 2005, and as we said before this is everyday car, it does occasionally turn up at meets where fans are pleased to see one of the best Honda Civics around.

The thing about doing the work your self is that you make sure that everything is perfect and to the standards that you would expect. However, here is a Civic from 1999, that looks better now than it did when hits the streets ten years ago.

This Honda is powered by the beautiful B18C5 replacing the original B16A2 which as with many ended up a little worse for wear and needed replacing but was soon up and running, reading for a VTEC tuning.

One of the main features of this machine is in fact the sound system. For this car, its Alpine all the way, with the CVA 1003 mounted into the dash and the all important six CD changer concealed in the clove box. Nevertheless, it does not stop there, he has installed a Questar In Dash DVD player and a Sony Playstation 2 is connected up to the dash though the Alpine sound system.

The is a real car owned and built by a real person, Mouse has put his signature on this vehicle and it looks downright cool with it.

Putting a Wings West body kit on the car is a stroke of genius, this is not the sort kit that you see these days, but it is in keeping with the style and age of the car. However if the owner had his way it would have been a Mugen kit.
