To get an idea of the thinking behind this car we need to look at the Honda Civic during the mid eighties, this is a car born out of the need to produce something for everybody and it certainly does that, with four body styles and the choice of several engine and gearbox options. However, the car that we are interested here is the three door hatchback that would have been powered by the 76 HP 1.5 litre engine.

It is funny to think of this car as the fifth generation Prelude, have there really been that many changes to this car over the years since it first entered the small sports coupe market back in 1978. Back then the Prelude competed with the Toyota Celica and the Nissan Silvia, the Prelude must have had something right as it managed to survive right up until 2001 when production finally came to an end and other models took up the challenge.

The fifth generation Honda Civic is probably one the most successful version of this long running model and yet it only had a production run of just over three years, which by today’s standards is pretty normal. The reason for its worldwide success is down to one thing, choice! This car offered the buyer a huge amount of choices at the build stage, so although the finished model is a Civic, it can be completely different to the next car off the line.
The Honda Fit or Jazz depending on where you live is probably one of the very last cars that you would consider to take on as a project, it is all wrong because you have a five door hatchback car that has clearly been designed to take the kids to school or pick up the weekly groceries from the supermarket. However, maybe we are looking at this car from the wrong perspective, could this Honda really be a cool project?
When it comes to power
Usually we are spending out time looking cars that look great and perform to the max all of the time; we have little regard for the type of fuel that these cars use or even how much of it goes into the tank and comes out of the exhaust when the engine is finished with it. However, should we be bothered about emissions and fuel consumption, when we take a look at a newly modified car! For the manufacturers they have little choice and so if we choose to modify a new car then there is little choice in the matter.
Call them what you may, hatchbacks, minis, or even starter cars the small car has become the essential proving ground for any import builder. The reason for this is simple, these cars are well made, easy to work and once completed look cool, could there be anything better than that! Well yes, it when these little hot hatches are taken to another level, now you are talking.
Honda brought out the Si branding for the third generation mod
As anyone who knows anything about the Acura TSX or Honda Accord, depending on where you are located from the mid 2000’s will know that these cars were not the sort of car that a young sporty type would be giving a second glance too. However, Honda did bring out some interesting variations on the model, such as the Accord Euro R this car brought a touch of sports car to the Accord, but the Acura did not get this treatment.
Now looking at this car is it easy to think that we have seen this before, well have seen a similar car back in July 2010, this was a very nice example of a 1995 Honda Accord, it was up sale and in fact I believe it still is! However, this car is a few years younger it is finished in a similar colour and yet there are some subtle differences by design and in the styling of the car, so let us have a look at this 1999 Honda Accord EX.
