However, should we be bothered about emissions and fuel consumption, when we take a look at a newly modified car! For the manufacturers they have little choice and so if we choose to modify a new car then there is little choice in the matter. Just because these cars have been designed to be less polluting and more fuel efficient it does not mean that we have to be driving around in battery powered cars with a top speed of 40 mph and a range of fifty miles on a good day. There are some cool looking cars that are not only fuel efficient they are capable of hitting 0 – 60 mph in under nine seconds, this is where the Honda Compact Renaissance Zero (CR-Z) comes into its own, this car may be classified as a compact hybrid electric automobile, but also that … Continue reading →

Just because these cars have been designed to be less polluting and more fuel efficient it does not mean that we have to be driving around in battery powered cars with a top speed of 40 mph and a range of fifty miles on a good day. There are some cool looking cars that are not only fuel efficient they are capable of hitting 0 – 60 mph in under nine seconds, this is where the Honda Compact Renaissance Zero (CR-Z) comes into its own, this car may be classified as a compact hybrid electric automobile, but also that does not mean that it has to be boring.

This particular model has been given the Spoon Sports treatment, this is a true hybrid car designed and built by Honda, and it is powered by a 1.5 litre iVtec four cylinder SOHC engine with Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) hybrid-electric system and a six speed manual gearbox. The car is well capable of producing over 120 HP. However, is the CR-Z a good replacement for the Civic Type R and the S2000? Well Spoon Sports have managed to tweak it enough to squeeze 150 HP out this eco sports car, so yes there is always potential when there are import builder around.

Honda brought out the Si branding for the third generation model in the mid eighties, it meant that slight modifications would be made to the car before it had even left factory. so you can already see the appeal of this branding as it meant someone with no skills or experience could enjoy driving around in something that was slightly different to average Honda Civic, but some people want more and that is when you enter the world of the import builder.

Check out this Civic Si, it would have stated off as your average car, imagine the previous lives that this car would had and now like the result of some genetic experiment. The car just sits there with that menacing look, a turbo charged heart beats under that hood and it waits for the time when whoever gets behind the wheel floors the gas pedal just to see what it is going under there.

Honda have been clever with their cars, they appear to have been designed with the import builder in mind as the car has its first couple of owners who use it for work, shopping and the odd trip. but once it looks as if the car has reached the end of its life up steps the import builder, who with some time and cash can produce a brilliant car such as the one that we can see hear.

Yet, this car is a head turner, attention to the finer points make this a great show vehicle and according to the owner the is not complete yet, so there is hope that this great looking Honda Civic Mugen Type R replica, will soon be riding on a some performance enhancing suspension upgrades from Tein!

Product Description for the DC Sports 4-2-1 Ceramic Coated Performance Exhaust Manifold Header;

You know you have to have a DC header on your sport compact to really get the most out of your engine’s abilities. All the air you can squeeze into the cylinders does not make a bit of difference if the burned gasses cannot get out efficiently. In addition, guess what: your factory manifold is not efficient. A DC header, on the other hand, is made up of individual runners heading back to a common collector. Compare that to your stock manifold, which most likely looks like a log that all the cylinders have to dump into. Since each cylinder gets its own individual exhaust pipe on the DC header, you avoid competing exhaust pulses, backpressure, and unequal pressures, all of which can stop the exhaust in its tracks and robbed your engine of precious horsepower. A DC Sports header will ensure that you get the most out of your induction system. There is no mistake with stainless steel used throughout, thick, laser cut flanges, machine welds, and ceramic coating to enhance engine efficiency your DC Sports header will help you get the most for a long time to come.

Product Description of the Honda Civic D16Z6 OBX Individual Throttle Body;

OBX Individual Throttle Body Kits allow the engine to operate more efficiently by decreasing pumping losses to achieve more horsepower. By allowing a single throttle body to feed air to each individual cylinder, throttle response can be improved dramatically. The decreased intake tract restrictions also improve horsepower with proper engine management tuning. OBX Individual Throttle Body Kits are the perfect upgrade to any naturally aspirated vehicle to achieve great throttle response, increased horsepower and better drivability on the track or street.

This maybe the 99 model, but the engine has been replaced with the later 2001, Integra R Type engine, this offers the builder more opportunities to develop the performance as the later engine is so much better than the original power plant. At the end of the a build is a personal journey, people who look at the finished item make judgement on it, but it is the builder and driver who will ultimately decide if this project right.

The first thing that you notice about this car has to be the wheels, you simply cannot miss these great looking eighteen inch Veloice rims that have been cover by massive Falken tyres. However, there is much more to this car than first meet the eye, it is the interior that has seen the most work done on it and it is pretty spectacular by anyone’s standards.

Music is the key here; you have to think that the design has been thought up by someone where music plays a major part in their life, with exception of the exterior paint work. Most of this builder’s budget most have gone on this staggering interior that looks like a cross between a recording studio and the flight deck of the modern airliner; it is a seriously cool car, none the less.

These small cars had the original function of being great for run around vehicles but not for much else, until an import builder gets his or hers hands on one and then everything changes for the better as we will see with this car. Now this is a Honda Civic Si, built in 1994 and basically if Jon Guadalupe (Jon Jon) had not saved this car, it probably would not even be on the road right, let alone looking as it does in far condition than the day that it rolled off the production line over fifteen years ago. It is not luck that the builder himself has been in the business of import building since 1995 and it shows on this project. It would be easy to pour money into this car, all projects will eat up as money as the builder wants to throw at it, but that is not necessarily going to work. The builder needs to be artist and have the flair with a touch of vision … Continue reading →

The builder needs to be artist and have the flair with a touch of vision in order to make the most of the budget and produce a wonderful looking car, such as the Honda Civic Si we see before us, this is one of the best examples of this model around, there is no doubt of that.

However, that does not mean that this car has been built on budget, far from it, after all nobody installs $1,800 seats and spends $1,400 on a set of callipers if they are restricted in the finance department. It is just a matter of application, putting the money into the right places, which is the key to a successful build, sure not everyone gets it and sometimes that shows. Not in this case though, as this Honda Civic Si rocks in the best possible way.

The design of the car is why this particular model has become a favourite with import builders; there are three models to choose from and up to ten engine choices too! So for the builder looking to get their hands on a cheap but desirable car, the Honda Civic is up there with some of the best cars on the used car market.

This is a classic build, with plenty of work being done both internally and on the exterior too, the paint job is particularly interesting the way that blends a dark green with a bright yellow.
From the details on this Civic, the builder has left nothing untouched and you would have to search high and low for a part that was on the original car. This is one of those cars that turns heads for different reasons, it stands out in traffic, while at the same could be functional family motor suitable for the school and shopping runs.

Megan Header Honda Civic Del Sol SOHC 88-00; An engine is a pump; to make that pump work more effectively you want to reduce restriction before and after the power plant. An aftermarket exhaust system is one of the best ways to do this. A cat-back system is a great first step but to realize an engines full potential exhaust headers are needed to complete the system. Headers bolt directly to the cylinder heads and direct the exhaust gasses individually before collecting before the catalytic converter. Megan headers are constructed from T-304 stainless steel, feature slightly larger primaries, mandrel bent tubing, and CNC machined flanges. Smooth mandrel bends increase the flow of the exhaust manifold and allow the engine to “breathe” more effectively thus increasing power. Megans headers also give your vehicle a deeper, more aggressive tone than the stock manifold.

It is not unusual to find a Honda Civic CX with body kits and an internal trim that could have come straight out of the car destined for the race track; such is the appeal of this model. In fact, the CX is well rounded car popular with all ages for a range of different reasons, it is a sports hatch, family car and even an older persons run around.

However, this car is different, there is probably nothing like it anywhere else in the world and that makes it special. The car’s owner Mike Ghadimi, had the vision to take an ordinary car and turn it into something exceptional, his hard work and investment has paid off for this car is now a super star in the world import building and so it should be.

For once this is project that has touched all of the car, every inch has been touched by the new design and that is unusual, for in many projects the builder concentrates on one factor, performance or looks. This Honda Civic CX may have the look of a military staff car, but has the heart of racer and the style of modern car, which is all good!

The best of both worlds is at your fingertips. Cold air intake system takes it to the next level by making installation a breeze. The short distance of the pipe allows air filter to be easily attached. The intake system comes complete with quality aluminium pipes, filters, hoses, stainless steel clamps, and brackets. Give your Honda Accord the ultra high performance look, aggressive tune and incredible horsepower gain it needs. * Does not come with CARB sticker please check with your State’s Motor Vehicle Department for regulation.
Suddenly it became clear that the Civic was good for modifying and for the import builder looking around for a good car to work had plenty to choose from with the Civic CRX, it is a versatile machine with a lot going for it, even today almost twenty years after the last models rolled off the production lines.

Surprisingly the cars wide choice of engine start with a 62 HP 1.5 litre power plant.
A lot of work has been done on this Civic, both inside and out, it is one of those cars that is the complete package, normally the work would concentrate on performance or looks, this project has done both and in style the body blends in nicely with the original lines, while the engine has been tweaked in all the right places, it is classic example of dedication to a project.

Product Description of the AEM DRYFLOW Synthetic air filter:

AEM Short Ram intake systems are an economical alternative to our Cold Air systems and deliver performance, value and ease of installation over any other short inlet intake. Our Short Ram intakes install easily under the hood and cost less because we use less material to manufacture them. During the development process, we found certain applications respond favourably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer Cold Air designs. For these applications (denoted in the search results page), we offer a Short Ram system only. We perform extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment, which allows our Short Ram systems to achieve the lowest inlet temperatures possible. Please refer to our temperature testing procedures for more information.

Here you can see that this job has been done not out of necessity but because the owner and builder wants to produce something that is going to stand out from the rest for all of the right reasons. Even down to choosing the colour, yellow, especially a yellow that is so bright is a statement that this is a car that is going to break from convention and take the world by storm in the small car class anyway. Attention to detail is the key to producing a show stopping car, as it is the details that produce the winning cars rather than a bold statement of colour. It is not just the look of this Honda Civic that impresses us so much. under that bright yellow paintwork there have been some serious changes taking place too, with the addition of kit made by Skunk2, Hondata, JDM and MSD.

These additions have all been making an impact on the overall performance of this fantastic looking car that for some reason to very hard to ignore, no matter how hard you try.

Finally, we must mention the performance of this car; initially the car would have come with a choice of engine from the 1.3 litre, 1.5. litre, 1.6 litre and the 1.8 litre units and a four speed auto or a five speed manual gearbox. The power out would have been ranging from just 70 HP to around 125 HP, but this Honda Civic following the work that has been done can produce a massive 220 HP, that is quite a contrast.

Product Description for the T6061 mendrel bend polish aluminium pipe:

Short ram air induction intake system is engineered to reduce intake restriction by smoothing out and straightening airflow. This design allows the engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. The greater volume of air translates into a more powerful combustion to yield more horse power. Short ram air intake system takes it to the next level by making installation a breeze.
Product Description of the AEM 22-401B Blue Short Ram Intake System:
