There are lot of people who are not too fussed about the Mazda RX-7, or any Mazda come to think of it, the reason is difficult to pin point but it would appear that Wankel has something to with it. The concept of the Wankel rotary engine is something of a mystery, it sounds weird and when it comes to performance how is it even possible to get 250 HP out of a 1.3 litre engine, you can see where the confusion lies.
However, even without

There have been three generations of the RX-7 that classic Mazda that sort of changed the car scene when it was first launched during the late 1970’s, even back then the strange engine set up amazed people. The Wankel rotary engine was small in size at 1.1 litre and 1.3 litre, yet it is able to produce 100 HP and 135 HP respectively, which is amazing and this tradition continues with a 2nd generation RX-7.

The third and last generation of the Mazda RX-7 is considered by many to be the best made, yet with less than seventy thousand of these cars ever been made over the ten year production run, the stock is now rapidly reducing. Some may love this car, others may not like the colour scheme and yet take way these two elements and you are just left with a pure vision of engineering with a touch of art thrown in there for good measure.
Regardless of whether you are looking at

The RX-7 is one of the best Mazda’s around and probably one of the most underestimated cars on the road, Mazda appears to be associated with family cars that used a strange engine. These were and to a certain extent still are cars that not everyone wanted or would even consider to drive; this is simply because of the non standard Wankel rotary style engine, which in the case of the RX-7 is a twin rotor 1146 cc version.

If you are going to drive a convertible car, then you need it to be solid, reliable and above all cool looking, does that describe the Mazda RX-7 convertible. possibly but what it does is describe the RX-7 of Ivan Lopez he has created probably one of the most desirable and definitely best looking RX-7’s on the roads of California and maybe even in the entire US, which is no easy task to achieve by anybodies standards.

There has always been a sort of mystery surrounding the Mazda and it starts off with the engine, its seems amazing that this sports car is powered by a 1.3 litre power unit, but it is and the lightweight twin rotor Wankel designed engine is the centre of all the fuss. It is simply down to the fact that its different and no other car producer has grabbed it for use in mass production.
Therefore, you kno

Sometimes a car is modified specifically for racing; this of course, requires a completely different set of skills and equipment. Not only because this is a street car that is being prepared to race other cars at speed, but also because there are rigorous rules and regulations laid by race organisers required almost every part of the race car and that is what makes this Mazda RX 7 so interesting.
Usually this type of

Just by looking at the images of the beautifully built Mazda RX-7, it is hard to imagine the condition that the car was in when the current owner bought it in 2006! But despite having a burnt out wiring harness, blown engine, body panel damage and some of the dash missing, today the car looks like a dream machine that has been modified from new. It just goes to show what a bit of hard work can do.
