However, they also cost a lot more so the difference between the different versions will have an effect on the modifications that the import builder is able the carry out, therefore this is why the Evo 8 is the best for the job at the moment. All Evos use the same 2.0 litre engine with a choice of either s five or six speed manual gearbox, but it is what can be done with the engine that is so impressive. Therefore, as the car pulls out of the factory you can expect to be receiving around 200 HP, but with some fine tuning this can easily be increased to over 400 HP and that is seriously impressive by any accounts. Under the hood of this modified car there are plenty of branded parts, you can see Greddy, AMS and NX straight away and this stuff apart from being costly means business. This is not tinkering by anyone’s standards, this is building the car from factory specs to import builder perfection, which … Continue reading →

This is not tinkering by anyone’s standards, this is building the car from factory specs to import builder perfection, which is the aim of the project, to build the best car around and this Evo 8 is easily there.

This car may be finished in black on yellow, but you should not hold that against it, colours are subjective to say the least and mean nothing. Performance is key here and despite the fact that there are no figure for the car, you can make a guess that they are not getting 200 HP out of this baby. If we had to guess this is getting closer to the perfect 400 HP and why not, it has the look and therefore should have what it takes too!

But the great thing about this car is that it can be modified fairly easily the only real limitation is budget, you can literally spend as much or as little as you need to in order to achieve the desired effect and this is what make the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution a true import builders dream machine. As this one is a fine example of what you can do, without going over the top with excessive body panels and bright paint jobs.

This smart looking Evo 8, is tidy and clean, with most of the work being done on the inside and in particular under the hood, where it can now achieve a very respectable 270 HP. This is due to the addition of Injen, HKS, Waverac and of course we must not forget those all import NGK’s, no car should be seen without these! At the end of the day, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is all about change and this car scores on all counts!

A great upgrade for both street and race use, OBX Helical Limited Slip Differentials provide a much safer and more enjoyable driving experience. In a vehicle with a standard open differential, power is distributed equally across both wheels. While turning, an open differential will send more power to the outside wheel making turning easier. But if a one of the drive tires loses traction, the wheel that has no traction will spin faster making the car less controllable and causing spin outs.

You may think that by changing minor things to car, that performance is not going to be affected but that is just not true, these seemingly minor changes actually have some serious effects on the overall performance of the car, especially when it comes to speed and braking. While braking is important what is under the hood is where the real work goes on, the Evo 8 can offer up to 400 HP, whereas the Evo 7 had just 276 HP to play with.

So back this modified version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, this car has the looks of a stylish concept car, it is the Lambo style doors that give that away, however despite that and serious red paintwork this is a car that has been built to perform too. This Evo 8 has it all, looks we can see and performance too, it is the ultimate in import building.

As far as performance goes, we need some stats; fortunately, these are available and make interesting reading too. This is a car that can go from zero to 60 mph in just 3.9 secs; it can clock up a top speed of 170 mph and it capable of running 12.4 secs over the quarter mile reaching a top speed of 108 mph in process. This stunning car has to be one of the best EVO 8’s in the country, unless anyone else has any other ideas!

Everything about this car says power and performance, it makes no matter from which angle to you from either, the bodyworks with it is curves, bumps and slots tells you that this car has been built with some purpose in mind.

Everything about this car says power and performance, it makes no matter from which angle to you from either, the bodyworks with it is curves, bumps and slots tells you that this car has been built with some purpose in mind. This is not just something that has been knocked up to show off some body kits or fancy wheels, chromed nineteen inch Advan RS wheels accompanied by some massive 275/30-19 Bridgestone Potenza R-01R tyres.

There is the look of a shark here, the hood with aero slots built into it and the grill opening have the appearance of a shark swimming around the shallows shores looking for its next victim and you can actually imagine this car cruising around the streets looking for cars the race against and devour in the process. This car is truly one of the greats, with 424 HP under hood, a light body and looks that could make heads turn, Project XXX really does live up to its reputation.

HPS silicone turbo inlet hoses are innovative product for which these induction hoses are constructed of a highly durable silicone that is multi-layered to produce a thick insulated tube that has a number of favourable characteristics. The thickness of the tubing, which is much thicker than the OEM piece, allows for an insulating affect that prevents the intake charge from increasing in temperature before it is introduced into the turbocharger. During competition, the engine bay has a number of heat sources such as the radiator, exhaust manifold and turbocharger itself that can drastically affect the temperature of the intake charge. In having a cooler initial intake charge before entering the turbocharger, the overall temperature of the intake system will be cooler and therefore prevent against such effects as pre-ignition and the engine management from retarding the ignition timing to prevent the detonation as well.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is the perfect car import builders, its called evolution because every one or two years since the first Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was launched in 1982. The 2.0 litre turbo powered car, was built to compete in the World Rally Championships. However the Evo 8’s production lasted from 2003 until 2006, it was that good! Still using the 2.0 litre turbo charged engine, this version of the car offers the owner some serious options to improve performance. In fact, the power output can range from 270 HP up to over 400 HP, so it is clear to see that this car has so much to offer the import builder not just on power but also in the way that the whole car is set up with body kits and other performance enhancing parts. Finished in yellow and black this car has a sort of retro appearance to it, but when it comes to performance that the modifications made this is definitely not a retro car. It is modern build and even though its power output is at the lower end of the scale, does that really matter as it has the looks and styling of a cool … Continue reading →

Under the hood, you will see the 4G63 2.0 litre turbocharged engine, this is a stock power plant and along the computer and intercooler the power is limited to 271 HP. This could easily change should the builder want to go down that avenue. Which of they do, by introducing a more modern turbo kit and engine management this is a serious car in the making?

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, is a totally underestimated car and despite the tests that show it could out drag a Porsche 911 Carrera S and an Audi RS4 on the BBC’s Top Gear programme. However, all good things come to end and this UK based car is up for sale, details can be found on the Modified Cars website, no price is mentioned by if this car is half a good as it looks it will be worth every penny to the right person!

It is amazing really, how the Lancer from Mitsubishi has changed over the years, after all, it is not called the evolution for nothing, it first hit the road during 1982 and then regular as clockwork every two years the Lancer evolved into the next version. Each evolution produced a change in certain areas but overall the Lancer of today is far removed from the earlier models of the early eighties. This particular version is the eighth evolution which places it in the early 2000’s, this is where things began to get exiting and the car took on a more menacing more rounded and aerodynamic look with the only feature that stands out is being an after thought is the rear boot lid spoiler. Although it does look cool and possibly helps to keep the rear wheels on the road. The work on this car has been done in a very sympathetic way, what we mean is the car still has its original lines and shape, so to even the man in the street it is clear what make and model this car is, even though there is little indication on the exterior as what the car is.
The work on this car has been done in a very sympathetic way, what we mean is the car still has its original lines and shape, so to even the man in the street it is clear what make and model this car is, even though there is little indication on the exterior as what the car is. It still has that look of a family car that has been given a boost of carbon fibre modifications.

One thing is for sure, this car is no school run machine, it has been specifically modified to produce more power and therefore it stands to reason more speed too, so not only does this car look perfect from the outside. The view that most people would get of this car if they happened to come across it on the road would be the rear end of the car pulling away from them.

Product Description for the Cosworth CNC Ported Big Valve Cylinder head range:

(4B11T – MIVEC) Built for the (08 and up) Mitsubishi EVO… For over 40 years, Cosworth has been the leader in innovative multi valve cylinder head design. Their latest advancement is the Cosworth CNC Ported Big Valve Cylinder head range. Modified from OE cylinder head castings, substantial gas flow improvements and upgraded valve train components offer superior performance for your high performance engine. Each original cylinder head design is carefully evaluated and tested to establish the improvements required to meet the target performance level. Hours of testing and flow bench validation are used to determine the best advanced port design yielding maximum usable power and response. However, there is more to cylinder design than just maximum flow. It is critical that port velocity is maintained to ensure drivability and valve train components are matched to guarantee reliable performance. Once all of these factors have been tested and validated, the final port contour is digitized. Using the digitized program, we then reshape both intake and exhaust ports using a 5 axis CNC mill producing and accurate and consistent port shape every time. In addition to re-shaping and enlarging the intake and exhaust ports, most Big Valve Cylinder heads feature a re-shaped combustion chamber to un-shroud the valves increasing air flow and performance. After machining, each cylinder head is ultrasonically cleaned, serialized and then hand assembled with select high performance valve train components, ready to install on you engine. Features include: Enlarged Intake and Exhaust ports Large diameter stainless steel intake valves Large diameter Inconel exhaust valves Hi Rev valve springs Titanium Retainers Hardened Steel spring platforms Reshaped combustion chamber on most applications Flow bench proven design Dyno tested Machined Cosworth Logo Multi angle valve job Pre-assembled, ready to install

That’s almost a new model every other year and each time it has evolved the car has got better and more desirable to the car buying public, not to mention the import builders who love to get their hands on these cars. The model is owned and built by Damien Cahill of Columbia, MD; the Lancer is from 2003 and comes under the Evo 8 range. The beauty of these cars is that the owner can take parts from other models either earlier or later versions. This is what Damien Cahill has done very well, with parts from the Lancer Evo 9 such as the transmission and seats. This is a nice looking car with a beautiful looking green chameleon paint job; the finish actually appears to be a two tone effect between blue and green depending on the light and the position on the car. This colouring appears to follow through the rest of the car including inside the engine bay.
For car of its size, the factory would have probably fixed the Mitsubishi EVO 8 at around 200 HP, although there were some versions that offered around 400 HP. so when we say that Project XXX delivers 424 HP, you get a picture of the sort of performance that is available to the driver of this car.
Injen Mitsubishi Cast Aluminium Intake System w/ Full Intercooler Piping All Lancer Evolution SP1898P

Product Description – The Injen Technology cold air intake system is a high-performance, dyno-proven system made of CNC mandrel bent 6061 T-6 aluminium alloy. Each Injen cold air intake is carefully engineered for a perfect fit and superior performance. Many other Injen Cold Air Intakes are made of only 3.00″ diameter tubes. This may cause friction between the battery and the intake system, dented hoods and an unbalanced air fuel ratio which can be harmful to your engine. Injen Technology has taken extra measures to ensure that you get what yau paid for: extra power, optimum throttle response and quality. Injen has in-house capabilities for bending 2.25″,2.50″, 2.75″ and 3.00″ diameter tubes on various bends. Polished intakes for those who are conscious of looks along with horsepower gain. With the use of 1/4″ thick 6061 T-6 aluminium and precise CNC machined brackets and adapters; you are guaranteed an exact fit every time. Not only does Injen dedicate themselves to making precise crafted cold air intakes, they also back it with a limited lifetime warranty to ensure a quality intake for years to come.

Product Description – “The Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake System was designed, to increase air intake volume to the engine. The concept is to create two different air velocity profiles, one travelling at higher speeds than the other does. This technology increases air volume and speed to the engine, which naturally feeds the engine 3x more air than the conventional air intake system. The intake pipe is bent out of high quality 6061 Aluminium on our Automated CNC mandrel bender. Polished to a high show quality finish. The SW1 Air filter features a tuned velocity stack to increase velocity and decrease turbulence.”
