However, they also cost a lot more so the difference between the different versions will have an effect on the modifications that the import builder is able the carry out, therefore this is why the Evo 8 is the best for the job at the moment. All Evos use the same 2.0 litre engine with a choice of either s five or six speed manual gearbox, but it is what can be done with the engine that is so impressive. Therefore, as the car pulls out of the factory you can expect to be receiving around 200 HP, but with some fine tuning this can easily be increased to over 400 HP and that is seriously impressive by any accounts. Under the hood of this modified car there are plenty of branded parts, you can see Greddy, AMS and NX straight away and this stuff apart from being costly means business.

This is not tinkering by anyone’s standards, this is building the car from factory specs to import builder perfection, which is the aim of the project, to build the best car around and this Evo 8 is easily there.

This car may be finished in black on yellow, but you should not hold that against it, colours are subjective to say the least and mean nothing. Performance is key here and despite the fact that there are no figure for the car, you can make a guess that they are not getting 200 HP out of this baby. If we had to guess this is getting closer to the perfect 400 HP and why not, it has the look and therefore should have what it takes too!

For since its launch way back in 1992 the design team have work on the next model and then the next, this has continued until the present day where we see the tenth evolution. However, this time we will be looking a couple of years back at the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII.
But the great thing about this car is that it can be modified fairly easily the only real limitation is budget, you can literally spend as much or as little as you need to in order to achieve the desired effect and this is what make the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution a true import builders dream machine. As this one is a fine example of what you can do, without going over the top with excessive body panels and bright paint jobs.

This smart looking Evo 8, is tidy and clean, with most of the work being done on the inside and in particular under the hood, where it can now achieve a very respectable 270 HP. This is due to the addition of Injen, HKS, Waverac and of course we must not forget those all import NGK’s, no car should be seen without these! At the end of the day, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is all about change and this car scores on all counts!

A great upgrade for both street and race use, OBX Helical Limited Slip Differentials provide a much safer and more enjoyable driving experience. In a vehicle with a standard open differential, power is distributed equally across both wheels. While turning, an open differential will send more power to the outside wheel making turning easier. But if a one of the drive tires loses traction, the wheel that has no traction will spin faster making the car less controllable and causing spin outs.

This is cool for the car maker but highly confusing for some consumers and the Mitsubishi Eclipse is no exception, this car is also known as the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser through the DSM partnership. However, we will stick to the plain old Mitsubishi Eclipse, it has been in production for an impressive twenty one years and the version we are looking today is the second generation model. This came with either a 2.0 litre or the 2.4 litre in line four cylinder engines and coupled with a choice of a four speed auto or five speed manual gearbox. Nevertheless, even more impressive was the choice of trim and model, in total there were fourteen choices to make. At the base level this car would be producing around 140 HP, but as the standard moved up so did the power output, with the top of the range offering around 210 HP.

Therefore, this is a car that has something for everyone and probably why it has been around for such a long time and will continue to be so as import builder take these cars on and make them even more desirable and attractive.

In this case, the builder has concentrated on the mechanics at the expense of the interior, which has been left a bit basic and therefore has the appearance of a car that is built to race! With brands such as Apexi, Greddy, Cometic and Megan under the white bodywork you simply know that this car is going to have performance at its heart, why not as this is one of the most impressive Mitsubishi Eclipse’s I have seen for some time!

Short ram air induction intake system is engineered to reduce intake restriction by smoothing out and straightening airflow. This design allows the engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. The greater volume of air translates into a more powerful combustion to yield more horse power. Short ram air intake system takes it to the next level by making installation a breeze. The short distance of the pipe allows air filter to be easily attached. The intake system comes complete with quality aluminium pipes, filters, hoses, stainless steel clamps, and brackets.

This is a real shame because; this is a car that offered the consumer some serious performance and styling unlike anything else seen in the sector of the market. So what do have here, the FTO is front wheel drive, front engined, two doored coupe and was powered by 1.8 litre or the preferable 2.0 litre V6 with a four or five speed auto or five speed manual gearbox. The power ranged from 123 HP to around 197 HP, this is nothing to get too excited about but there is potential there for something special and this is where the import builder steps in to save the car. This particular model is the 1995 version, so it is just into the production run and happens to be the better 2.0 litre V6 powered model too! However, this car does have the edge when it comes to body styling, it may be white but that adds to the coolness.

Most of the work of this version of the FTO has taken place under the hood, but luckily, the builder has also made some changes to the exterior too, otherwise there would not be too much for the car fan to see and this car is a delight to look at. Maybe it is white colour or just that huge rear spoiler, but whatever the reason this car has been out of production for eleven years and only cars such as this one will keep it going.

In incorporates a neural network, which works in a similar way to the decisions-making process of the human brain. data on a driver`s preferences is fed into a learning control circuit, which selects the optimal gear for that particular driver. It also has an all-new sports mode, of a Japanese version of the Porsche tiptronic gearbox. This new system, which costs roughly half that of the Porsche variety, allows the driver to select manual operation and drive the car as he would drive a manual. The result is excellent. In sports mode, just a quick flick of the gear knob forwards or backwards is enough to engage the desired gear with lightning response. Not only is the FTO a decent two seat sports car that offers a choice of a 1.8 litre or the 2.0 litre power unit, with a five manual, four speed or five speed semi auto gearbox, this is a very desirable car. During its time the car had ups and downs, it was mainly built for Japanese market and yet in a similar way as the Nissan Skyline did, so called “Grey Imports” meant that the FTO began to appear in sorts of places. This is how the demand began, because if an import builder happened to spot one of these cars at a meet, they would immediately want to know what it was and how they could get hold of the FTO.

Initially the power would be restricted at around 123 HP, which for a car of this size is nothing to get excited about, but Mitsubishi gave the FTO more power taking it up to a respectable 197 HP, of course a skilled import builder would be able to squeeze a bit more out the car. As we see with this car in the images, there has been extensive work under the hood the main object being more power under the foot.

This car has the looks and specs of a car built for performance, yet it also has the style of an import builder who wants to impress and the only way to do that is by producing an exterior that assaults the eyes from the start. whether you are into cars or not, you simply cannot help yourself but look at this machine and think a lot of hard work, time and money has gone into that car, but it has been worth it.

I know that it is easy to say this about any car, but I really do think that the Mitsubishi Eclipse has to be one of the most under rated cars around at the moment as it is sporty, has a great look to it and there is a beautiful 3.0 litre V6 sitting snugly under that hood! Cars do not really come any better than this, sure, there are rivals but this is one serious machine and this one has been skilfully modified too! The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a front engine and front wheel drive car, so despite having all of the power drifting is going to be out of the question, which might have been a waste of the 200+, HP pulling power that the standard car has to offer. However, to an import builder this is car with some serious potential and therefore simply has to be built to the extreme, which actually works with the Eclipse. There is something about a silver car that makes it stand it; the colour blends in nicely with the polished steel wheels, highly polished engine parts and the additional silver coloured parts. However, this car has more to offer with … Continue reading →

However, this car has more to offer with a serious Bomex four piece body kit, which is not aerodynamic by any means and yet it just looks very cool simply because of the bulges that the kit has created.

Needless to say, most of the work has been done under the hood and it shows too, just look at the working area there is hardly and part that has not been taken up by something. The cramped conditions under there all add the look, it seems to be all engine and what an engine it is. The Mitsubishi Eclipse or rather this Mitsubishi Eclipse is a superb looking car and clearly does the team behind this build credit.

You may think that by changing minor things to car, that performance is not going to be affected but that is just not true, these seemingly minor changes actually have some serious effects on the overall performance of the car, especially when it comes to speed and braking.
So back this modified version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8, this car has the looks of a stylish concept car, it is the Lambo style doors that give that away, however despite that and serious red paintwork this is a car that has been built to perform too. This Evo 8 has it all, looks we can see and performance too, it is the ultimate in import building.

As far as performance goes, we need some stats; fortunately, these are available and make interesting reading too. This is a car that can go from zero to 60 mph in just 3.9 secs; it can clock up a top speed of 170 mph and it capable of running 12.4 secs over the quarter mile reaching a top speed of 108 mph in process. This stunning car has to be one of the best EVO 8’s in the country, unless anyone else has any other ideas!

The look of the tenth edition is of brute force, this is not one of those cars that can be mistaken for being all looks and lacking in power. it is more likely to be the other way around with up to 360 HP under that bulging hood power is an essential part of the Mitsubishi Evolution X, it is all about being the best all of the time and this car delivers.

Red is theme that flows through this modified car, and it works well simply because it has been done with touch of style and not overdone. This is clearly a driver’s car too, which makes the build so much more interesting because you know that this is a car been driven all of the time and not just a show car that is rolled on and off a trailer to get to shows and exhibitions.

However, usually these are the cars that really stand out in the crowd and what makes being an import builder so cool. Then there are the companies and firms that make a living out of selling parts and modifying cars for their customers. These import builders will often own one or two cars of their own as way of showing the public exactly what they can do and at the same time use the car as moving advert, showing everyone who is behind the work.
Then there are the companies and firms that make a living out of selling parts and modifying cars for their customers. These import builders will often own one or two cars of their own as way of showing the public exactly what they can do and at the same time use the car as moving advert, showing everyone who is behind the work.

Finally, there is the marketing modified car; this is car that has been commissioned by a large corporation in order for it to appear at all of the shows and these cars sole intention is publicising the company’s products or product. In this case, the car is a fantastic Mitsubishi 3000GT from 1996 and the company sponsoring the build is the tyre firm Yokohama.

The Yokohama Advan Showcar comes with a very distinctive red & black paintjob, it is simple and yet so very effective in attracting the eye. The colour starts off as a full deep black from the front and at the rear the colour has changed to this bright red, it is a brilliant concept with subtle branding too, there are no huge signs down the side of the car, just a few stylish and well placed brand names.

The Mitsubishi 3000GT may have started off as the Mitsubishi GTO but whatever they call it this is a very interesting machine with an even more interesting background. The Mitsubishi 3000GT or GTO has been with us since the early nineties and with some minor changes only, this car is more or less the same car over its ten year production run, which is quite extraordinary for time when car production was at its height. There are four versions of the three litre engine, the 6G72 3.0 L V6 (160 HP), SOHC 12v (221 HP), DOHC 24v (276 HP) and last but not least the DOHC 24v twin-turbo (319 HP). The attraction to this car is obvious, it has the looks, style, power and an iconic GTO name, which the company dropped because of the connection with Ferrari and Pontiac, Mitsubishi, needed this car to be become a standalone sports coupe, which of course it has become. This particular model comes in silver, which was not the most popular colour at the time, but now it actually looks like an interesting car, with just some flashes of red brakes visible through those beautiful eighteen inch Volk alloy wheels. The Mitsubishi 3000GT or GTO has been with us since the early nineties and with some minor changes only, this car is more or less the same car over its ten year production run, which is quite extraordinary for time when car production was at its height.

This particular model comes in silver, which was not the most popular colour at the time, but now it actually looks like an interesting car, with just some flashes of red brakes visible through those beautiful eighteen inch Volk alloy wheels. The beauty of this modification is that it offers the best of all worlds, it would be no surprise to see it cruising past you on the road and yet it can equally be at home on the track too. This is a very fine line to be on and yet the Mitsubishi 3000GT does it so well, with a bit of style thrown in for good measure.

HPS short ram intake systems are an economical alternative to our cold air systems and deliver performance, value and ease of installation. HPS short ram intakes are easy to install under the hood and cost less compared to the cold air intake systems. During the development process, we found certain applications respond favourably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer cold air designs. For these applications, we offer a short ram system only. With HPS in house dyno, we are able to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment to deliver the best performance of the short ram air intake systems.
