It is amazing how some people can take a family car and after a lot of hard work, time and of course cash, come up with a car that is the envy of the import builder’s world. However, this is no story it is what happens every day in the world of import builders and this Mitsubishi Gallant is just a clear indication on just what can be done with enough inspiration.

Of course, this Gallant was no under powered machine to start off with, as it already had a decent 3.0 litre engine under the hood, which would have been good for 156 HP. but for new owner Broderick Jones 200 HP would be the minimum accepted, in fact after changing to engine to a 3.5 litre version the power would be touching 225 HP, which is clearly better.

However, with that power, the car must be modified to cope and that is where the real work comes in, it is all right switching the engine, but the running gear, brakes and just about every other moving part on the car would need to be upgraded in order to cope with the increase power demands. That is why the engine specs are a long list of parts that have been swapped.

From the outside the new owner has opted to keep the original lines and that is a good thing, because the only indication that this a modified car visible from the outside are the Roto Boost wheels with 225/45/17 tyres. there is also the tell tale sign of a big bore exhaust peeping out from under the rear bumper, we can only imagine the sound that this car makes as it is driven down the road.

This model Mitsubishi Galant is one of those cars that has a foot in a couple of camps, one being the family type car and the other being performance car. The trouble is it hard to distinguish between the two sometimes, is it a performance car or a family car? In fact, that is a question that has always been an issue with Galant owners, especially when it comes to insurance, as they seem to think that it is a performance car and therefore charge accordingly.

Yet this Galant is one of the best, the owner has gone out of his way to create one of the best in the country. Does it succeed, well that is a question that needs to be answered by those people who are experts in the field, but having said that this is a naturally aspirated Mitsubishi Galant, most owners would have gone for a turbo, but not here. Yet this car produces 225 whp, which is not bad for a 3.5 litre engine.

OBX High Performance Spark Plug Wires are the highest quality and thickest wires available in today’s market. Six individually wrapped 18 strand copper cores are wrapped with a stainless steel conductor to ensure greater ignition current conduction and longer spark duration. The core is covered with a special synthetic dielectric compound that prevents all electrical leakage and arcing of the current due to microscopic cracks when aging occurs. Extra heavy duty glass braid is woven around to withstand extreme wire stretch from pulling. All of this is coated with an outer sheeting of silicone double wrap measuring 10.3 mm in thickness to withstand extreme engine bay temperatures.

OBX wires are compatible with all types and brands of spark plugs on the market today to increase voltage output and provide maximum combustion on today’s high performance engines. These wires have been dyno tested to significantly increase horsepower and torque on both stock and modified engines over OEM ignition wires.

This particular model is owned by Broderick Jones whose intention was to create the best Galant on the road. When some one says that a lot of people think “Oh Yeah” but he meant it and to prove it, the car itself says a lot about what this car is all about.

The original car was bought in 2004 from friends, then it had only done around 32,000 miles, which is good, but the engine was going to be changed anyhow. With a 3.5 litre engine installed it became the only one of its kind, how cool is that.

Now this car can produce around 225 whp and with all of the other work done on the car, this is truly a nice looking machine that breaks the rules in every way, but could often still be mistaken for an average family car.
