As expected this Nissan is powered by the fantastic 3.5 litre V6 power unit that initially would be providing around 300 HP, this is complemented with a choice of either the five speed auto or six speed manual gearbox. The Z series replaced the highly respected and much loved Nissan 300ZX, but the new Z series is much more than the ZX could ever have been and it still is with import builders taking an interest.

This 350Z is a great example on what you can do with the car without going over the top and losing out on valuable performance to make the car look fast with overdone body kits. Every here appears to have been kept to a minimum and it works, not only in looks but in the performance too, it seems that the more you over cook the car the tougher it becomes to handle, a point worth remembering we think!

This car may be a total homage to carbon fibre and why not, if your budget can stand it, but there is much more to this car and it shows when the hood is lifted to expose that beautiful 3.5 litre V6 engine. With brand names such as Apexi, JDM, Nismo and Speed Force, standing out in yet more carbon fibre just to keep things nice and smooth under there, this is truly one of the best of Nissan 350Z’s out there today.

It is hard to comprehend what could possibly be under the body of this car it is a true monster, but a nice looking monster at that, no nice does not cut it, this is a super monster car with a beautiful body that defies all logic, but it is something that will put on a good show.

This is a project that only the big boys could, a privateer would struggle to come up with all the necessary car parts and work that is needed to get the project from the planning stages to that wonderful time when the driver puts the key in the ignition and cranks it up.

Specs of the Switzer built Nissan GTR with 800 HP:

“The client had some pretty clear goals with this car.” explains Tym, “This GTR couldn’t be track day special that would deafen you out on public roads. The client was looking for a car that he and his wife could drive out 2 or 3 hours to the track in reasonable comfort, fill it up with pump gas, set killer times lap after lap after lap, and drive to a nice dinner afterwards without issue. Basically, it’s a race car with climate and cruise controls, and that’s kind of a lot to ask!”

The Switzer crew set to work on the Super Silver 2010 GTR, starting with the company’s proven P800 kit, which replaces the car’s intercoolers, intakes, and turbochargers with Switzer components that bump the GTR-engine to 800 hp and almost 700 lb-ft of torque … but didn’t stop there. “Adding 300 more horsepower the car obviously helped its power-to-weight,” Tym adds, “but more importantly none of the components in our P800 package and our new cooling package, which this car also has, are any heavier than stock. When we built the kit originally we didn’t want to make the car any heavier than it already was, and with this car in particular we wanted to reduce the weight as much as we could, without sacrificing the ‘GT’ aspect of the GTR.”

To that end, Switzer fitted featherweight carbon rotors from AP, which cut a significant amount of unsprung weight (the enemy of handling) and rotating mass (the enemy of acceleration) from each corner of the GTR, while improving fade resistance. Application-specific pads, high-temperature brake fluid (AP), and stainless steel braided brake lines round out the brake package with improved pedal feel and increase stopping power.

Weight was also cut with the addition of a lightweight (ceramic-coated) titanium exhaust system, dry-carbon deck lid, and lightweight sports seats from Bride. “We chose these seats because of their adjustability. You can be comfortable, still get to the back seat, and it is not an extreme one-piece seat that is not comfortable on the highway. They fit the project goal perfectly.”

It is true that the Nissan 370Z is a one hell of a car; I do not care much for the convertible, as the fixed head coupe is more of a racers car than the convertible, which is a bit of poser’s car on the quiet and why not if you have got it then why not flaunt it.

There is nothing like a brand set of wheels, especially when they come packaged in the bright red body of a Nissan 370Z now this is car worth giving a second look to and you would have to bet that there are not many people out there either driving or walking whose head would be turned when this rolled by.

Now the problem here is what do you do? Sure, you add the $3,000 sports pack, who wouldn’t but does this car have build ability. Some people would think no, but in essence every car can be worked on to make it better, it is just a matter of how far do you want to go.
