The evolution III brought in that classic two door coupe body shape that we still see in the fifth generation car, it would have been powered by the straight six 2.6 litre engine and came with a standard five speed manual gearbox. Customer options were clearly not top of the manufacturers wish list with this car, but 313 HP soon made up for any short fall on the optional upgrade menu to start with!

Over the years, the design has followed popular styling and design, but it was the R30 series in the early 80’s that really changed everything and brought out the Skyline that we love today. There is a little confusion here though, in Japan this is the Nissan Skyline 2000 GT, but for export purposes, it was still going under the old brand name of the Datsun K Series. Datsun was a brand that changed the way that the car industry worked; the reason for its popularity is because it featured many things as standard that would be considered extras in big brands such as Ford and GM.

The GT version had the look of a big US muscle type car; just a little bit smaller but perfectly formed in many ways. The GT EX was the upgraded GT-R, they put in a turbo charged engine, and this was the first production car to actually have this feature. However, for turbos, this was early days; there were no intercoolers or even a blow off valve, just a pressure release valve for emergencies. The power output varied from 95 HP to 130 HP.

This particular model, brings all that was great about the 1970’s back to life, the owner has done a terrific job in bringing this car back to life. The beauty of this car and probably why import builders love it so much is its versatility, for instance this car has a wide ranging power output, it could be a low as 250 HP if that can be considered low. However, in the Nismo 400R version, the power output can be as high as 500 HP, which is a staggering difference power and just goes to show the potential that the Nissan Skyline R33 has, it is just unfortunate that only 16,422 were ever made!

The featured Nissan Skyline R33 is something else, the first thing that we need to say it that the builder here, Aaron Camilleri has made this car produce 520 HP, yes that is 520 HP delivered through all four wheels! As soon as you see this Nissan GT-R, you just know that it is going to be good and everything about it is going to be right, as it has to be otherwise, there are plenty of fans out there who will only be too quick to criticise even the slightest error or oversight. This particular model comes from 1996, so it is an early version of this popular car, but it is so cool in grey with extensive body panels and mouldings added to the car, it is not the same car that rolled off the Tochigi assembly line in Japan and that it how it should be as import tuning is all about producing something special, which this car is.

But this is a car that is more than just what the finished car looks like, this is a true thoroughbred in performance and with almost every part being replaced by something new and we are assuming better, this makes the car completely different to anything else we have seen.

Initially this car used the 2.0 litre, 2.5 litre and the 2.6 litre engines with the 4 speed auto, 5 speed manual and 6 speed manual gearbox. It was able to produce up to 280 HP, which for a production car is something special indeed.

The first design for the R34 came out in 1998, production ran for four years and in that time only 64,623 cars were sold, so that makes the Nissan Skyline R34 a rare and much sort after car.
