Maybe it is because the GS300 is a luxury car or simply the cost, why import builders have stayed away from it, but not any longer it would seem because this second generation model has been given the modified treatment. Clearly this model comes with the 3.0 litre straight six power unit producing around 230 HP through the four or five speed auto gearbox, so not much to do there then, apart from a bit a filter and exhaust upgrade.

Most of the modifications have been cosmetic, with this car, it is all about the look and this is a car that comes with a seriously cool look, sure, it is pimped out but isn’t that what we are interested in looking at, it is a powerful big and black machine that looks intimidating, because it is! This is however a serious design and there has been plenty of work put into it, that is clear.

The XB comes with a small but never the less useful 1.5 litre engine that provides around 108 HP, which for a small car is ok, but nothing to get excited about by any means. This is a strange looking car that some people hate and this is where the import builders job starts, just how do make something interesting from a cart such as this? Well it is going to some serious imagination to pull this one off.

Therefore, this particular model has not seen too many changes under the hood, in fact there is not too much to do under there, apart from play around with the exhaust, filters and headers. The design is more directed to looks and it actually works, because what they have done here breaks up the plain and boring straight lines of the Scion into a serious looking vehicle that makes the person looking at think as to what it actually is or was.

The fifth generation Prelude came with choice of two power units, a 2.0 litre and 2.2 litre four cylinder units, couple together with either a four speed auto or five manual gearbox. Its power was varied too, depending on the selections made before the car was built, the buyer could choose from a 133 HP version right up to the 220 HP model. Yet the Prelude comes with a somewhat dated body design with square lights etc, what is all that about?

Once the import builder gets their hands on car, body shape is the least of their worries for the Prelude is a front engine with rear wheel drive car, which is great for drifting but die hard fans of this style of car would prefer front wheel drive. However, this build has taken a different turn, in fact, the builder is only too pleased that this car has rear wheel drive for it allows him to burn rubber at a seriously high rate and that does make for a good show.

From the specs, it is clear to see that more work has been done under the hood and this is probably why the car sports a nice 500 HP! Now that is what you call power and allows the driver to make a serious show of just what this sort of power is like in car such as the Prelude. This was not an overnight build either, it has taken around two and half years to get to this point and as with all builders he is probably not completely satisfied with the finished job either, but we still like it a lot!

So what do have here, the FTO is front wheel drive, front engined, two doored coupe and was powered by  1.8 litre or the preferable 2.0 litre V6 with a four or five speed auto or five speed manual gearbox. The power ranged from 123 HP to around 197 HP, this is nothing to get too excited about but there is potential there for something special and this is where the import builder steps in to save the car.

This particular model is the 1995 version, so it is just into the production run and happens to be the better 2.0 litre V6 powered model too! However, even with some serious additions and swaps under the hood, this car is still only offering the driver around 200 HP and this can be a little disappointing from a V6 powered car. However, this car does have the edge when it comes to body styling, it may be white but that adds to the coolness.

Most of the work of this version of the FTO has taken place under the hood, but luckily, the builder has also made some changes to the exterior too, otherwise there would not be too much for the car fan to see and this car is a delight to look at. Maybe it is white colour or just that huge rear spoiler, but whatever the reason this car has been out of production for eleven years and only cars such as this one will keep it going.

Surprisingly this model was only production for around three years, it is a five door station wagon it is powered by the medium range 1.5 litre engine combined with either the six or five speed manual gearbox or the popular choice of the four speed automatic gearbox. It would have had the option of  FWD, RT/4WD and 4WD too, but this is basically a van converted into a family car, in fact when production ceased the Shuttle continued as the Honda Partner delivery van for a further five years.

So onto this brilliant build, first of all a car such as this Shuttle is not really show car material, but imagine how cool it would be if it were gutted and rebuilt to the extreme then it would be something wouldn’t it? Based on the Toyota Altezza, the IS300 comes with a nice 3.0 litre straight six engine, with a choice of a four or five speed automatic and a five or six speed manual gearbox, as well as all of the luxuries that Lexus customers demand. The car would have be producing around 220 HP, which for a car straight off the production line and aimed middle managers is not a bad platform to start from when taking on the Lexus IS300 as the next car to modify.

However, this modified Lexus IS300 is on a completely different level to the car that rolled off the production line in 2002! To put it into perspective, this is a car capable of touching 10.22 over the timed quarter mile (Bugatti Veyron does it in 10.8 seconds) clocking up a trap speed of around 144 mph, these are not the figures that you would expect to find in a production car. However, in a car that has 850 WHP under the gas pedal and is not afraid to use it.

The car belongs to New York based, James Suh and he clearly has vision in order to plan this car out, it takes a methodical approach to pull a job like off, but that is exactly what has been done here. Almost all moving parts have been modified or completely swapped over for something better of course. but this is a special car and going on its stats there does not seem to be many cars around that can touch it, so is this really the fastest road car in the world?

To start off with there is the all important engine; it started off with the basic 999 cc engine, with a 1.3 litre and 1.5 litre for those who were a little bit sportier. Actually, in such a small car the 1.5 litre engine combined with the five speed manual gearbox would have offered the driver some serious power under the foot around 135 HP, it would have been a dream pulling away from the lights in that.

This is a car that was in production for almost ten years, so there was definitely a market out there for the Starlet and now it is the time for the import builders to get their hands on them and make the car live on by adding some cool body panels with bulges and scoops. However, most of all under the hood where there is plenty of scope for the builder to add some modern and dare we say more reliable parts.

During its time the car had ups and downs, it was mainly built for Japanese market and yet in a similar way as the Nissan Skyline did, so called “Grey Imports” meant that the FTO began to appear in sorts of places. This is how the demand began, because if an import builder happened to spot one of these cars at a meet, they would immediately want to know what it was and how they could get hold of the FTO.

Initially the power would be restricted at around 123 HP, which for a car of this size is nothing to get excited about, but Mitsubishi gave the FTO more power taking it up to a respectable 197 HP, of course a skilled import builder would be able to squeeze a bit more out the car.
