With the car in production it took the world by storm and fast became the car of choice over other performance cars, and its unique engine sound could heard before you even caught sight of the car itself, Subaru had created a winner, not just in the FIA World Rally Championship but in the performance car market too.

By 2000, the Impreza STI was in need of a revamp and so the second generation was developed, it came with a choice of 2.0 litre or 2.5 litre engines producing up to 300 HP and a choice of a six speed manual or five speed semi automatic gearbox. This car is from 2002; it is the WRX model and so already has some interesting modifications added before it even left the factory. However, are these additions the modifications that a cool import builder would have chosen, more likely not! Performance wise was nothing in its class that could touch the Impreza, with a 2.0 litre or 2.5 litre power unit and the choice of either the six speed manual or five speed semi automatic gearboxes. This production model was giving up around 250 to 300 BHP; with a body more suited to a small family car, this meant only one thing power and speed, which in the wrong hands could be deadly.

But this is a modified version of the same, performance is far superior to that found in the original road car, but this is car designed and driven by builder that know what they are doing of and more importantly know how to handle such a powerful yet light car. What I love about this car, it is simple looks and serious power, this is the car that is being used on a daily basis to and from the owner Wence Estrada, who is a fisherman by trade, which is no easy job at the best of times and so coming home to this is something to look forward to.

However despite having spent an estimated $225,000 on this car, there some further interesting plans in the pipeline. The builders wanted to take this car to 800 HP, yes that is right 800 HP and so the EVO version was born hitting the quarter of a mile in 9.8 seconds.

And yet they are still not finished with this car, could be possible to reduce the weight by around 60 kilos? Maybe by getting a smaller driver and ripping out some panelling that could be possible and what about the speed, well that is just going to have to wait for now.
