When it comes to the RX 7, I have never really been a fan this is nothing to do with the car or brand, but probably because at the time there was more choice from Nissan, Toyota and even Mitsubishi. These cars were believed to be more user friendly whereas the Mazda RX 7 was complicated and therefore would have been expensive to maintain and that is a real turn off.
But now having seen many Mazda RX’s this is car that has grown on me and this particular build has really won me over, I love the lines of the body and deep blackness of the bodywork seems to pull everything to it. But then again it was the objective of the car’s owner Chase McGehee from Savannah, GA to produce the best RX 7 not just in the US, but the world.
This has been long term project, which makes the build so interesting; this is someone who had more faith than the rest of us that the RX 7 would emerge as one of the best cars from the mid nineties. This is probably why he has this car sitting on the drive and the rest of us simply have to marvel at its beauty.
Under that perfect black bodywork, there have been some serious changes, especially in the engine department where the turbos have been replaced with a later versions and the surrounding parts have been upgraded with new high performance parts, which not an easy job to do at the best of times.
