To gauge the success of the brand or model of car you would normally look at two things, sales and length of production run, the Mazda6 was one of those cars that had been conceived to serve the family market and the first generation model ran for over six years. In car terms, that is a successful fun and now the Mazda6 is high up on the car modifiers shopping list.
One fine example of this trend is the Mazda6 built by Chris Zitkevitz from New Jersey; he bought this car not with the intention of making any modifications to it, as the car was intended to be just that his car! However, one modification led to another and before long, the car began to change as well as the amount of cash being spent on it.
The original car came with a wide choice of options, such as the 1.8 litre, 2.0 litre, 2.3 litre and the 3.0 litre V6 engines together with four, five or six speed auto and five or six speed manual gearbox choices. This give the car a power range from 136 HP and up to 270 HP +, it is understandable how this car has become so popular in the builder sector.
Now this particular Mazda6 is a show stopping winner with successes at the Philadelphia International Auto Show, showcase vehicle at the New York IAS, and winner of the Best Mazda at Importfest 2007, for import builder it really doesn’t get any better than this. This is especially inspirational project as it demonstrates that you builders are made and not born.
