We are looking at the first generation model here; it came with a choice of either a 1.6 litre, 1.8 litre or the 2.0 litre power unit and a choice of either the four speed auto or the five speed manual gearbox. The car has a curvy look with a flowing line from to back to help with aerodynamics and to give that sporty feel, which is all important when buying a sports coupe.

Nevertheless, cars such as this can easily be modified, it takes a bit of time and money, yet the finished item is well worth the effort in the end. Performance wise the basic road going car would have between 114 HP and 140 HP, although with a few tweak here and there it is possible to add a further 50+ HP should that be desired, in this case it would seem that the look is more important than performance.

Over the years, the design has followed popular styling and design, but it was the R30 series in the early 80’s that really changed everything and brought out the Skyline that we love today. Today we are focusing on the third generation model, this came in either a three door hatchback or the four door sedan with a choice of a 1.6 litre and the 1.8 litre engine and a five speed manual or a four speed auto gearbox, basically the Integra is middle of the road car. The Z of course comes from the famous Datsun 240Z and this modern day interpretation of that classic car does not let the side down. In fact, the concept car in 1999 was actually named the 240Z and resembled the classic car a little too closely for many people. As expected this Nissan is powered by the fantastic 3.5 litre V6 power unit that initially would be providing around 300 HP, this is complemented with a choice of either the five speed auto or six speed manual gearbox. The Z series replaced the highly respected and much loved Nissan 300ZX, but the new Z series is much more than the ZX could ever have been and it still is with import builders taking an interest.

This 350Z is a great example on what you can do with the car without going over the top and losing out on valuable performance to make the car look fast with overdone body kits. Every here appears to have been kept to a minimum and it works, not only in looks but in the performance too, it seems that the more you over cook the car the tougher it becomes to handle, a point worth remembering we think!

Maybe it is because the GS300 is a luxury car or simply the cost, why import builders have stayed away from it, but not any longer it would seem because this second generation model has been given the modified treatment. Clearly this model comes with the 3.0 litre straight six power unit producing around 230 HP through the four or five speed auto gearbox, so not much to do there then, apart from a bit a filter and exhaust upgrade.

Most of the modifications have been cosmetic, with this car, it is all about the look and this is a car that comes with a seriously cool look, sure, it is pimped out but isn’t that what we are interested in looking at, it is a powerful big and black machine that looks intimidating, because it is! This is however a serious design and there has been plenty of work put into it, that is clear.

Even off the production line, the buyer would have a choice of either the high power or standard power version, the high power version offering around 250 HP, which is nothing compared to this modified racing version that with extensive work can produce around six hundred horse power. Couple this with rear wheel drive and you have got yourself a serious machine built for drifting machine.

Whatever way you look at this car, it’s a winner, not only because of the serious power under that long hood, but this is build that has been brought out of the need for speed and has been built to provide maximum power from the basic factory build, which not something that everyone can do or even contemplate. The S14 still uses the same DOHC 2.4 litre engine but now it has been moved on to having a four valves per cylinder and would be producing around 155 HP in the standard set up. Naturally, Nissan had improved the steering and handling of the car, which it to be expected after all this was a new design back in 1995! It is body shape that takes the car off in a new direction; it is more upright and functional, whereas the S13 had the looks.

This model is from 1998, it would have been one of the last of these great cars to be built and there is one thing that really stands out with the project, this is the fact the apart from a new paint job this car exterior has been left alone.
