For many people the Nissan 240SX is merely a car with a number and then there are those car enthusiasts that know the Nissan 240SX is much more than just a car, it is a legend. But instead of being part of motoring history this car is very much alive and will continue to be a dream machine so long as there are people that are willing to put in the effort to produce great looking modified cars such as this. It is probably fair to say that in 1996 when this Nissan 240SX was built, these cars were just another Nissan and only a few enthusiasts could see the potential in the model. You only have to look at its smooth flowing lines to see that this is car with style and then there is the versatility of being able to swap things around, as there is plenty of room under the hood and inside this two door coupe.

Originally this car would have been powered the standard 2.4i litre SOHC engine that would have been good for around 140 HP, but one of the first changes in this car would have been to dump that old lump and replace it with the 2.6 litre straight six twin turbo engine from a GT-R. This is what we mean about being versatile, not all cars allow import builders to do this, but it does not just stop there, as the running gear needs upgrading too to cope with the power.

So now, this car is now a 450 HP monster and with the additional safety features such as a roll cage and door bars, there is no room for comfort. The carpets and interior trim have to go, so drivers looking for luxury motoring better think again with this car as performance will always take precedence over comfort.

The nature of this superior material, Energy Suspension’s Hyper-Flex, is the result of twenty plus years of experience working with and formulating polyurethane materials. Careful selection of material firmness or durometer is used for each specific application on the vehicle’s suspension and frame. The three most valuable reasons for using Energy Suspension’s Hyper-Flex components are performance, durability and appearance. Called “HYPERformance”, Energy Suspension’s Hyper-Flex is performance polyurethane that delivers an amazing amount of performance to any vehicle that runs with it. Proven on the race track as well as the street, on and off-road, under the most demanding conditions. Over twenty years of positive customer raves have attested to that. Whether domestic or import, front, rear or 4WD, or old or new, all vehicles will achieve that level of performance that has made Energy Suspension the most asked-for name in performance polyurethane suspension components. Durable Hyper-Flex components do not rot or deteriorate from exposure to oils and undercar chemicals or atmospheric conditions like smog and ozone. Unlike O.E.M. rubber, Hyper-Flex components will not break down and deteriorate causing mushy handling and poor steering response. Certainly not what you want on your vehicle. And for improved appearance, Hyper-Flex components are available in red or black, to suit your needs for show or go.

In actual fact, it initially appears to have little done to it, but that is because most of the work is under the hood. The car has been finished off in a classic Nissan style red paint job. However, unlike any production model, this is a car that delivers around 406 HP and that has some serious power for a car of this size and weight, yet this is a road going vehicle. This is one of the first generation S13 models that came with 2.4 litre engine and the choice of a four speed auto or five speed manual gearbox. Yet this car off the production line was only offering around 140 HP, which is average for the two or three door car. The Nissan 240SX is a classic Japanese production sports car and this version by Ken Moore really shows what can be done to fairly average car to make it into something that is desirable and very attractive the eye.

The Nissan 240SX is a classic Japanese production sports car and this version by Ken Moore really shows what can be done to fairly average car to make it into something that is desirable and very attractive the eye.

The brilliant Nissan 240 SX S14was unveiled in 1994 and first on sale the following year, it was a different direction from the S13 model as that convertible and hatch back versions were phased out during the design stages. This means the Nissan has one car, one body style and one really cool car ideal for import builders to get their hands on. The S14 was all about refinements and not in the way that would make the car into a luxury sedan, these refinements were to make the care sleeker, lighter and much faster. In fact getting 300 HP out of this car is a piece of cake, taking up to 450 HP as this is, take a lot more work and specific skills and clearly the team behind this car are very skilful and talented. The car has managed to keep its shape and style, but sits like a heavy tiger waiting pounce and with 450 HP at the driver’s disposal that is not going to be too difficult at all. The car still uses the 2.4 litre inline engine but this one has come straight of a Nissan Skyline GTR.
OBX Red Spark Plug Wire Set 91-98 Nissan 240SX 2.4L

Product Description of the OBX Red Spark Plug Wire Set:

OBX High Performance Spark Plug Wires are the highest quality and thickest wires available in today’s market. Six individually wrapped 18 strand copper cores are wrapped with a stainless steel conductor to ensure greater ignition current conduction and longer spark duration. The core is covered with a special synthetic dielectric compound that prevents all electrical leakage and arcing of the current due to microscopic cracks when aging occurs. Extra heavy duty glass braid is woven around to withstand extreme wire stretch from pulling. All of this is coated with an outer sheeting of silicone double wrap measuring 10.3mm in thickness to withstand extreme engine bay temperatures. OBX wires are compatible with all types and brands of spark plugs on the market today to increase voltage output and provide maximum combustion on today’s high performance engines. These wires have been dyno tested to significantly increase horsepower and torque on both stock and modified engines over OEM ignition wires.

But this is about this fantastic looking Nissan 240SX originally built during 1996 and even though the car has gone through being stripped down and almost completely rebuilt from scratch to look almost identical to what it would have looked like as it rolled off the production line and into the arms of its first owner. Of course, this is car that has got a pedigree of its own or rather the builders have, Louie Lui and Tony Wei, the two most luckiest guys in the import building world. They work with these cars all of the time and get to work on a project such as this on the side if you can call it that. One thing is for sure the some guys get all of the luck all of the time! This design allows the engine to inhale a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. The greater volume of air translates into a more powerful combustion to yield more horse power. Short ram air intake system takes it to the next level by making installation a breeze. The short distance of the pipe allows air filter to be easily attached. The intake system comes complete with quality aluminium pipes, filters, hoses, stainless steel clamps, and brackets. Give your Honda Accord the ultra high performance look, aggressive tune and incredible horsepower gain it needs. * Does not come with CARB sticker please check with your State’s Motor Vehicle Department for regulation. Coupling and hose maybe in the colour of red/blue/black.

Looking at the images it is hard to decide what is better, the car or facilities that the owner Tim Heineman has to produce a fantastic looking machine such as this Nissan 240SX. Ordinarily these cars are hot, but as this car stands, it is a superb version of the car and that probably has something to with all of the work that has gone into. On the outside, there are only a few touches that change the original shape, which is great because the car then is looking like it should, but inside there has a few changes that would make the original version look dated. First up there are seat rails and a full roll cage, these are essentials, but no heater or air con! This is a proper race car, that has been thought out carefully and worked on with the same vigilance, even down to keeping the cool, the set means that it never exceeds 190 while racing, all these factors make this car something special, a real racing machine. Specs of the Nissan 240SX: Engine Modification – Engine/ Fuel RB25 / custom racefab motor and tranny mounts Wiring by racefab 2qt Accusump … Continue reading →

Not all people who own cars like this are mechanics, some like Jason Lusier is a car painter, an artist if you like for he is responsible for the great finish of this car, only by using the best materials and attention to the finest detail can a car end up looking like this. The job is started with the old paintwork being stripped right back and then by using the Sherwin Williams ultra system PE990 etch primer, P30A spectra prime, S56 ultra-fill II sealer, ultra 7000 base coat, and ultra 7000 CC950 ultra-flex clear the job is underway. Not only that, upon closer inspection it will be noticed that meticulous attention to detail has been made, virtually every screw, bolt and nut has been removed and plated in gold, along with most of the main engine parts. Something like this does not just happen, this is a work of art that takes a lot of hard work, time and of course that old tradition with any project, plenty of cash! Naturally there have been some additions in the engine department, but the engine itself has mainly remained as it came, which is testament to the carmakers own parts.
Something like this does not just happen, this is a work of art that takes a lot of hard work, time and of course that old tradition with any project, plenty of cash!

Naturally there have been some additions in the engine department, but the engine itself has mainly remained as it came, which is testament to the carmakers own parts. Sure, there have been some changes like the GReddy intake manifold and Blitz Nur Spec three inch diameter exhaust.

The car sits on a set of works VS-XX wheels that are covered in Nitro NT555 tyres, all seventeen inches of them!

This car although to the fan would look great, but for the perfectionist like Jason clearly is, it is by nowhere near completed and despite having spent around $100,000 on the near perfect Silvia, there is always something that could do with the master touch and if Jason is to blitz the shows then the work is never finished.
