This car is the 2009 and for it modified takes some guts and therefore we would to assume some serious investment in time and parts. This is because it is very hard to improve on something that is already almost perfect in every respect and for many fast car fans; this is one of the cars that heads up the dream car list.

The standard off the production line car comes with a serious 3.8 litre DOHC V6 engine, with two parallel Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) turbochargers that provide forced induction, giving the car a serious 474 HP and a maximum top speed of around 193 mph. The only downside would be the $80,000 price tag.

The modified version of the car, has some subtle changes that have been designed to produce a more efficient drive with an increase in power from the same factory fitted engine and turbos, coupled with a transmission that offers three modes, normal, for maximum smoothness, snow, good for shifting on slippery surfaces, and r mode, with fastest shifts.

It is hard to comprehend what could possibly be under the body of this car it is a true monster, but a nice looking monster at that, no nice does not cut it, this is a super monster car with a beautiful body that defies all logic, but it is something that will put on a good show.

This is a project that only the big boys could, a privateer would struggle to come up with all the necessary car parts and work that is needed to get the project from the planning stages to that wonderful time when the driver puts the key in the ignition and cranks it up.

Specs of the Switzer built Nissan GTR with 800 HP:

“The client had some pretty clear goals with this car.” explains Tym, “This GTR couldn’t be track day special that would deafen you out on public roads. The client was looking for a car that he and his wife could drive out 2 or 3 hours to the track in reasonable comfort, fill it up with pump gas, set killer times lap after lap after lap, and drive to a nice dinner afterwards without issue. Basically, it’s a race car with climate and cruise controls, and that’s kind of a lot to ask!”

The Switzer crew set to work on the Super Silver 2010 GTR, starting with the company’s proven P800 kit, which replaces the car’s intercoolers, intakes, and turbochargers with Switzer components that bump the GTR-engine to 800 hp and almost 700 lb-ft of torque … but didn’t stop there. “Adding 300 more horsepower the car obviously helped its power-to-weight,” Tym adds, “but more importantly none of the components in our P800 package and our new cooling package, which this car also has, are any heavier than stock. When we built the kit originally we didn’t want to make the car any heavier than it already was, and with this car in particular we wanted to reduce the weight as much as we could, without sacrificing the ‘GT’ aspect of the GTR.”

To that end, Switzer fitted featherweight carbon rotors from AP, which cut a significant amount of unsprung weight (the enemy of handling) and rotating mass (the enemy of acceleration) from each corner of the GTR, while improving fade resistance. Application-specific pads, high-temperature brake fluid (AP), and stainless steel braided brake lines round out the brake package with improved pedal feel and increase stopping power.

Weight was also cut with the addition of a lightweight (ceramic-coated) titanium exhaust system, dry-carbon deck lid, and lightweight sports seats from Bride. “We chose these seats because of their adjustability. You can be comfortable, still get to the back seat, and it is not an extreme one-piece seat that is not comfortable on the highway. They fit the project goal perfectly.”

So they come up with the Electronic Valve Controlled Exhaust Muffler, this is effectively more than just an exhaust it’s more like two different exhausts fused together to make one super type exhaust that has an electronic brain that switches between the different styles to offer the best performance.

Agency Power Adj. Twin Blow Off Valves Nissan GT-R 09+

One important facet on turbo charged vehicles is the factory blow off valve also known as the recirculation valve. Because the Nissan GT-R features a twin turbo setup, there is one blow off valve on each intercooler pipe. With stock recirc valves, they relieve the pressure from the intercooler pipe back into the intake pipe, which then goes into the turbo causing turbulence. This slows down the turbo spool up between shifts. However running an aftermarket blow off valve at a 100% atmosphere can cause MAF issues because there is no air being metered back. For modified cars running higher boost pressure, factory recirc valves can also leak boost from the OEM design at higher RPMs. Agency Power’s blow off valves have been proven successful on many other vehicle applications with each holding up to 30psi of boost. With its adjustability knob on top to dial in your spring tension, the CNC machined 6061 aluminium component can be setup to run either 100% atmosphere or 50/50 for best performance. With the 50/50 setup, the blow off valves will still dump air back into the intake, but most will vent to atmosphere giving you that swoosh sound and keeping the turbos spooled between shifts. The anodized body with laser engraved Agency Power name includes a bolt on flange to mount the blow off valve on the stock or aftermarket intercooler piping.
